Top 5 Mistakes on the Efoil

Number one mistake…..buying one

Hurt me back and can't use my efoil for a long time. Its for sale if you know anyone. 2023 Matte Black Liftfoil3 4'9", folding propeller, 32" mast, extra long battery.

I wish I had known this before my first 1 hour lesson yesterday. Wasted so much time trying to figure this out. Instructor didn't explain this.

Do you have any thoughts on why efoiling produces so much strain & twisting in my aft knee that I just cannot enjoy this sport? I have a 4'9 and typically I'll have no more than two sessions a week before I'm almost crippled with knee pain

Excellent and useful, thank you! I noticed Donovan kept his feet quite close to each other, in a much narrower stance than the one we have on kitefoils, is that recommended for efoiling or just his style?

first mistake should be - buying the efoil. grow a pair, get a kite or wing or paddle. for buddha's sake.

I still have a ways to go. Definitely doing the toe/heel thing.

Question for you though. I'm trying to get my Efoil allowed on the lake I live on. The HOA hates anything new. One guy on the HOA board was saying that the high speed hum from the prop hurts aquatic life and that he pointed to a Bill in Hawaii about restricting EFoil use. Bill: HB858. Did that bill ever get passed? What kind of laws are you stuck with now?

Awesome Video from former Iroquois Point resident ! I'm now building my own e-foil after many years of wakesurfing behind my Malibu surf-boat in Atlanta, GA. Thankful for your useful tips on what "not to do" while learning. It's quite a challenge going from "front foot is gas, back foot is brake" while surfing behind a boat's 4-5' wave. Looking forward to foiling off the coast of Florida !

For me, I had to think turn with my hips instead of shoulders. I think it ended up meaning the same thing, but thinking hips made it easier for me,

Great video & info…. On turning w shoulder i cant tell if Donovan is TILTING the shoulder in the turn direction or TURNING/ROTATING the upper half of the body at the waist towards the turn direction….Which is it..????…..the concept & action ???. It seems a rotating force will be correct … …………………

want to go……. But then where dies the lean or tilt come from ?

Thanks for the refresher Alika and Donovan! Board just arrived today. Dying for the battery to ship. That’s just a little cruel having that come separate and not even shipped when the board comes. Kinda like giving a kid a new bicycle with flat tires and tell him soon, but we don’t know when, the pump with come and then you can ride it. Still super psyched!

Great tips, when surfing you also turn with your shoulders, if you turn with your toes or ankles you end up tipping over. So i think turning in surfing transfers well to foiling.
