Washer Not Spinning - How to Reset Motor (Easy)

Hey Jay, overloaded my GE washing machine yea it wouldn't spin, but this did the trick, a big thank you. Wonder why GE doesn't have in their manual, LOL!!! ????

Thank you so much! Changed the washer lid cuz it rusted. That was easy part. Then the washer didn't work...never even noticed the magnet. Took the magnet from the old lid and installed it in the new lid. Plugged the washer back in, opened the lid six times and it worked!!! Super psyched!! Thanks again!

GE repairman told me it would be cheaper to buy a new one then to replace the motor I did what you did unplugged it and plugged it back in and looked at the lid six times and Erica went away and it works fine thank you that's awesome

The unit should always be plugged directly into the outlet and you should absolutely never use one of those cheap junk power Splitters. You can even see where it has been darkened by having too much current drawn

I have a Maytag A310 washing machin that agitates fine but when it goes to spin out, it shuts the motor off. I put a new motor on it and belts and it still does the same thing.. It acts like the motor gets a load put on it and shuts itself off because it works fine without the belts.

Does it apply to model gtw680bsj5ws by GE ? It has the lid lock function.. I installed all new genuine GE suspension rods due to it banging around on spin. I'm thinking it needs resetting . It's better but still excessively shaking. Thanks Man

Sooo... I have that exact problem but this didn't seem to work. 2014 Kenmore Series 400 top load, HE.

that's like our washer, but the seal went out in it and the main board goes wacky too. However, we like the multi level water adjustment of the older machine. The new GE only has 4 levels and auto water levels and puts too much water, washes in a short time, and then spins 15 mins, and takes longer than our old GE and they call it energy efficient? And the washing cycle, the motor sounds like a whining pig each time it turns back and forth and our old GE was very quiet. It seems not just GE but everyone is complaining about the New washers are making more noise during agitation. Also, when you open the lid, if not lock, otherwise pause it, it gives two bursts of water, even if you pause it on the rinse/spin cycle to adjust the clothes, it does it everytime. Our old washer only spun about 5 or 6 minutes.

July 2023 I found your video in desperation. Agitator was fine. Just no spinning leaving clothes more than soppy wet. My washer is a very old Kenmore. Followed your directions one time and the spin cycle actually worked again. Thanks for sharing this.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I searched for help with this problem and at first watched another video of my Same Washer, with the Same humming symptom and no agitation. They would have had me troubleshooting and repairing/replacing the motor. Now instead I’m washing the clothes and won’t need to shopvac all the water out of the machine and find another place to do laundry while I spend hundreds of dollars I don’t have. THANK YOU AGAIN!!

WOW! Can't believe it worked! Mine was a GE Washer gtw330ask0ww, it's got all kinds of error code checking etc. that is very complicated. I tried this reset method and it worked!
Men, tell your women/kids you cannot fill these washers with huge blankets etc. My fiancé caused the washer to fail by loading up a massive blanket and then even after I got lucky and got the washer up and running again she says "great now I finish this blanket" NO!!! Go do them at a laundromat.

I pulled that blanket out, it was about 70lbs soaked with water. The parts on washers will fail if you keep doing massive loads. I'm lucky this fix worked, it could have been much worse. Tell them to not be lazy and drive down to laundromat other wise we men have to spend money for no reason fixing broken washers because of laziness.

That didn't work for me, my washer just kept filling up with water. Lol

My Kenmore washer doesn't have the piece that can make that clicking sound however I did unplug the washer for 5 minutes. My machine was off timing
