This is a fantastic chase. Truly one of the top ones but the original 1974 Gone In 60 Seconds takes the cake for greatest chase scenes ever.

Greatest how? The first 3mins is a pursuit not a chase…It was boring,as far as innovative shots for car chases,sure…But action wise it was dull asF.

interesting chase.. But not the best. The best chasing is in a movie, called, the burglars, starring Omar Sherif.

Man, this still holds up today. The cinematography, editing, and sound work are amazing.

Nothing sounds like a 60's or 70's Musclecar..And Guess what? Nothing Pulls like those Either.

That music helps to make it the best scene ever. This film score is just amazing.

Actually 2 cars are used in this chase a jump car and a heavily modified speed version to keep up With Bill Hickmans" charger.

The part where the music immediately cuts off when the charger burns rubber is fucking phenomenal 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Both cars, but the charger especially, sure do look like they handle like dog-dirt. But that makes the chase more thrilling to be honest

The sheer thuggish savagery is what makes this scene great.

I watched this for the first time on airplane with headphones. Slight turbulence and the headphones feeding the loud V8 noises into my ears was so immersive. I was flinching every time there was a close call.

What makes this great to me is what they did with the tech they had back then ...

Superb score by Lalo Schfrin. Builds the tension during the cat and mouse antils but stays silent once the high speed chase starts, where it woiuld be competing against screeching tyres and revving engines anyway.

Hollywood, I love how the viewers see the view from inside (looking) through the side window of the car looks like they’re going 60 miles an hour but through the front windshield they are going half that speed! 😂

not only is it the best car chase scene, it has the best engine sounds.

Overblown Hollywood nonsense with closed off streets and silly explosions at the end of the chase designed to thrill a 16 year old kid and his juvenile friends, Bullitt can't hold a candle to the car chase in The French Connection that ends with Popeye Doyle blowing away the sniper hired by the drug gang to assassinate him. The film industry, back before it had its head jammed up its ass, recognized the brilliance of The French Connection with five Academy Awards. Bullitt, by comparison, is a largely forgotten film, bogged down by the McQueen - Bissett romance angle that sucks the life out of the movie, and is only remembered for its car chase ... where Steve McQueen passes the same green VW bug four times *eye roll* LOL

I'd love to have seen that on the big screen. One of my favourite film sequences of all time. And the VW Beetle deserves an Oscar lol.
