When I was a fan of wrestling in the late 90s and early 2000s there were no cell phone cameras. Thank god because I think there were 3 types of wrestling fans back then.. guys who know it was fake but found it entertaining.. guys who thought it was all real.. and guys who knew it was fake but convinced themselves it was real to enjoy it more. I was the last type.. eventually I got too old to keep lying to myself and quit watching cold turkey. But if I saw a video like this during my fan hayday it would of killed it for me.

The Orton powerslam thing is not perfectly accurate. It's not the only sign he uses for that move. Of course it's not, I mean he literally claps a split second before he hits it. If you look at the Bray Wyatt example, he stopped dead in the ropes. In most cases, Orton claps after the opponent hit the ropes and is already running towards him. If this was the sign Bray was waiting for, he wouldn't have stopped so early. In many cases it's simply communicated if the move is succesful or not. I mean, both wrestlers have a rough idea about where the match is going as they're doing it, so if one has a sequence going on, you know already if the DDT is going to hit or if this is the moment to counter it and reverse the momentum on who's on top. Especially with the DDT the slap is more of a "brace for impact now" thing than a true "counter if you don't feel the slap". It's more of a confirmation than a direct order on what to do. You usually know if you are expecting to hear a slap or not.
