ОтветитьThe point DI-gest, vs di-GEST is something typical in English. The same word can be used as a verb, or as a noun. As a noun, the stressed syllable normally comes as the first. As a verb, they stress on the 2nd syllable.

When I was young 65 years ago !!
1 …My mum used to say I was “” a gay happy young child “”
Now that words meaning has changed .
2. If I clean and wax my daughters car
“” I’m a hero “
Apparently you don’t have to fight in a war to be a hero ??
3. Legend . If I bring home a Indian curry takeaway “” I’m a legend “”
Not a person who is known throughout the world’s history,
4. “Tablet “ a computer device !!!
Not medication 💊 !!!
😂😂😂

ОтветитьHeteronyms can be very confusing for learners, because speaking and writing are happening at the same time. As for natives, speaking happens first, the writing comes five or more years later, when you go to school. Many times they're not even conscientiously noticed. The brain is an amazing thing. I'm semi native, I noticed heteronyms quite a bit later and on my own. In a text the brain figures it all out, and it's never confusing. I find this just awesome!😊
ОтветитьOne want wand won't won
ОтветитьIs the Word JERK a Homonym? Eg. " Delicious JERK Chicken?"Go JERK OFF!!, you Nasty JERK!!
Jerk Chicken,"Yeah!!! but you just tried to eat me,.. YOU JERK!!!"😊😊 😂😂😢😢😮

ОтветитьTHANKS Marina!!! I just had my TOEFL exam this morning and got 30/30 reading and 29/30 listening. Now all that's left is a good enough score for writing and speaking and my dream of studying in the US will become a reality!!!
