Nope... I won't even touch it after that whole "taking snapshots of your computer" nonsense. Linux Mint host with a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 VM for me. It does the one or two things I need Windows for.

Its time for MS to pay me for contributing this much. Thank you for Linux!

It's worse than just spyware. Windows is now specifically designed to take over a proprietary level of control over the computer hardware you bought and paid for and give that control to Microsoft to use against your interests for theirs. That makes it the very definition of malware. And the only thing you can possibly do to stop that is to completely erase that malware and use a different operating system.

Unless linux gets decent third party support, everyone who works with computers and is not a developer will prefer macos or windows.

Let me tell you a joke: Gimp.

Let me tell you another joke: Blender.

It doesnt matter what operating system you run, when your cpu has a built in computer with 5g wifi antenna creating remote connection, like teamviewer, to criminal jewish servers, in the bios even before the operating system is loaded, spying on the entire population. It doesnt matter if you run linux or windows. If you look up libreboot, this might be a solution on older computers with older cpus. Also, your modern monitor, such as lcd screens can function as camera, so they can spy, not only on your computer and look through your drive, buy they can see whatever is infront of you screen, your face, livingroom etc. Im sure headphones and speakers can function as mic aswell. You have to unplugg the powersupply to you computer and monitor. They can access you computer when it is turned off even if your not connected to internett because of 5g/4g using magic packets, i think it is called, when you start a computer from somewhere else over the internett and access it remotly.

This is exactly why I'd use Linux before ever using another MS OS. Moved off of Windows 6 years ago and haven't missed them since. MS as a company is nothing more than an Info Stealer who wants you to pay for the very software that will invade your privacy!. Hope the EU holds 'em accountable, we all know the US never will.

We need a law that companies that collect user data need to transparently reveal the actual purposes of use of the data collected or else the company will get court order to shut down.

A bit late to the party, but I would like to say that I really miss the Dial-Up days when your computer was fully isolated from the internet unless you told it to connect. Security and virus problems weren't even a glimmer in the developer's eye and everything mostly worked as it should. (although slowly)

If any of these big OS companies (yes Linux too!) were serious about privacy and security they would include a tool to disconnect the internet when it's not being used.
I do not need an internet connection to write a new chapter in my (unpublished) novel or to update my grocery list... why are they trying to get me to keep it in cloud storage?
I certainly don't need the internet to play music and movies stored on my local hard disk. So why is it still connected?

The whole purpose of an operating system has been lost. It's not there for the mega-corporation's benefit. It is there to run the programs that I choose to install on my machine. Everything else is of no use to me. In fact, I probably use less than 10% of the code in my Windows folders!

If MS want's back into my good graces, they will build an OS that installs clean, gets me to a desktop and just sits there waiting for me to tell it to do something. No accessories, no bundled apps, no fancy widgets... Nothing. Just me and my desktop.

AND... most specifically... If I want my OS updated... I will send it out to do the job and I will pick the updates I need/want from a detailed list of what's available.

People haven't been in charge of their own computers since Windows 2000 ... the last OS that can run completely isolated from Microsoft was Windows 7 (and even that took some tweaking).

ENOUGH!

And, if you peek over the fence, you will discover that Mac and Linux aren't a whole lot better.

The operating system need so mutch reaources, so that microsoft can exploit my computer.

The fact that im paying for a computer of x resources and the software drains them is on thing that are unecesary and i dont use is insane.

The fact im paying a computer with my money and Microsoft whant more control of it then me, is litterally fraud in ways of how pc are even sold.

Because the very definition of PC is* Personal Computer not Microsoft Computer.

Its literal fraud selling me a PC when Microsoft is being so invasive and taking control over it, especially with data tracking.

It should be illegal.

Not only a invasion of privacy
But its just fraud selling products with windows installed called PC (Personal Computer)

So my computer in fact is outsource computational unit for huge corporation who is above the international law. Sounds fantastic, it reminds me a novel 1984 every year more and more clear. I really happy with my decision to start use MacOS.

M$ saw google slurping up all this data and making billions. So they said that we are going to do this to our users and they can just lump it if they dont like it. Any abusive practices will be addded to one of the 5000 pages of the EULA so they cant say they were warned. M$ increasingly is abusive in nature and totally disrespects the user itself. It resets your settings to disable telemetry on every single update.

I have tried to block all telemetry and tracking on windows using tweak programs and registry settings and after many hours of trial and error using network analysis tools, I have found for all practical purposes to be impossible while the internet is connected. Switching to linux is really the best solution to stop data collection.
