- Manual swapping an SC300 will pay for itself when (if) you resell the car (you wont want to)
- The '97 SCS300 is the most desirable year because no VVTi (easiest to turbo) and it has the facelift.
Man you just made me regret selling my SC300... At the time I had it I certainly didn't have funds to dump into it and unfortunately it needed some love. I think what really was the nail in the coffin for me was the door panels... I couldn't find a non broken door panel anywhere for it and like just closing the door was difficult because the pull handle was busted. Was always awkward how the doors didn't seem to open far enough to get in and I smashed my head into the door frame on multiple occasions lol...

ОтветитьKeep in mind, Toyota didnt use the 2J for racing, but used the 1UZ. Hence, better bet. Don't let Fast and Furious decide your car hobby.
ОтветитьReview is on point. I NEVER saw myself in a 300, let alone a Lexus. But, the 92 300 non vvti I've had for a few days now has been the funnest and sexiest car I've had. I'm use to big yachts. My last car was a 94 legend L. I thought I would hate the space in the SC. But, it's really not bad, feels like my own space shuttle. Lol

ОтветитьGot my Dads 400 when he moved on. He loved this car and even had the timing chain done at the prescribed interval. Perfect condition minus a rip in the passenger seat from a car wash guy who leaned in with his knee square into the center of the seat ("Uh, I didn't do that..."). fast forward 10 years and the clear coat is all but gone, factory rim eroded inside to the point of not holding air and the IAC motor bearing seized up, all easy fixes minus the paint. Mechanically, it is still rock solid. 205K miles....Motor still purrs, smooth as ever and pulls till the redline. Will keep it until the fenders fall off. Now...who makes replacement LCA's?
Ответитьi found mine with a little over 200k im technically the second owner and bought it bone stock and i am very happy owning my 300 not a lot of people like it but there are people who do it is a great first car for me its strong and reliable only a few mishaps but other than that a perfect and amazing car

Ответитьi have both of them’ a 97 Factory 5speed all original.. and a 92 V8 plans to have a built automatic and itb’s or should i manual swap? The SC300 is for show/keep it stock mostly.. and the SC400 is for track and autoX etc….

ОтветитьThe sc300/400 didn't sell well because the personal luxury coupe was a dying product line. The buick riviera, Lincoln mark viii and cadillac eldorado were discontinued from 1998-2002.

ОтветитьIn 1998 they introduced vvti to the 2jz-ge in the sc300. With that also came thinner connecting rods and a couple of other things which lead to it not being able to handle as much power without upgrading internals. Like don’t turbo it without upgrading internal. But that’s also the year they stopped making manuals but once my tranny goes I plan on putting the 6 speed from the Supra in it. Gotta start saving…
