In Albanian, shite means Mister.
ОтветитьReally good video!
ОтветитьI expect to see "do not get into a bar fight" on this list. Now, I watch.
ОтветитьI`m English. My grand - dad was from Co Mayo. I`ve lived in Ireland and been practically everywhere there is to go in Ireland a dozen times over. And I miss it. The drive known as "The V" ( The Vee ? ) in Co Wexford is jaw dropping. The hills of Tipperary, Dublin the week that runs up to Christmas. B&B in a working Farm House in the middle of nowhere. The Ring of Kerry, beginning and ending in Killarney..... Athlone in the middle of the isle. Swords north of Dublin, Kill....
Every ten miles there`s a small village called `Kill...` and you`ll even see signs on the backroads directing one to Kill. I believe `kill` to be a Gaelic name for a church.
Unfortunately I must disagree with the lass in one respect. Ireland is an integral part of the British Isles. I might not like it anymore than she does. Look it up. The British Isles is a Geological term and will not change on account of the recent past.
Notwithstanding I name myself as English I consider myself far more European and Irish than I do myself British. I reject being British and take silent offence ( in order to maintain calm ) when I`m called a `Brit.`
If I could secure an Irish Passport ( on account of my grand - dad ) I`d throw my British Passport into the River Humber whilst I cross it, living close to it.
15 degrees is not blistering sunshine
ОтветитьLegend has it, singing "O Danny Boy" to an Irish guy named Daniel will get your ass kicked.
ОтветитьWe live very similar to your ways in rural Idaho. We never ignore people when out in public. We always smile and say hello! It's just courteous and good manors. Also we never walk in the middle of our country roads! Never is that acceptable as cars can fly by and not pay attention to people that should never be in the middle of the road. It's common sense, which is not so common these days sadly. Also your tipping rules are the same as here. I've never left the country much as we have a decently large farm but Ireland is one place I want to visit! I'm mostly Basque and have family in the Basque country in Lakatio. Lots of our great grands and grands migrated here to Idaho and Northern Nevada. We are prodominating sheep herders.
ОтветитьThanks for the tips. Super excited about my first trip.
ОтветитьI spent a whole month in Ireland, staying in a different place almost every day, and the only accommodations I prebooked were the first and last day in Shannon and a couple very specific places I wanted to stay, and didn't have any issues. I don't see that as being an issue as long as price isn't an issue.
ОтветитьI really loved Ireland when I went there some years ago, it was SO beautiful and people are incredibly nice (I personally enjoyed the countryside far more than Dublin)
I know that it is a tendency nowadays but it annoys me that they do not accept cash in some establishments. I don’t like having a lot of cash with me anywhere I go but I keep some because from my point of view it is easier to control your expenses this way and banks have shown over and over that they are not to be trusted
Ireland: the only country I’ve entered where the immigration official, at the ferry terminal at Rosslare, smiled at me and my family. He said “come to find a few ancestors, have you?”
ОтветитьIt is worth noting that Ireland is a member of the European Union but not a Schengen member state, so Schengen visas are not valid in Ireland.
ОтветитьI broke rule #1, I got a girl a pregnant, out drank her brother, and out cussed her father.
ОтветитьYou are so nice 😊
ОтветитьFrom what I've read recently, complaining about your wife being murdered by an illegal immigrant is not acceptable.
ОтветитьGive out = complain/scold someone or about something. Oh and ffs, what the f-bleep do ye mean we are swearin over here? ;-) Just kiddin. 18 years over here and even me foreigner swears like mad
Ответить15 cel blistering sunshine. Thats is funny. Thats cold.
ОтветитьBro... Why do you look like my cousin's twin? STG you look just like my cousin.
ОтветитьWould traveling in Ireland solo be foolish?
ОтветитьCan I just say Dublin is a great place to fly in and out of and to get acclimated in the country and recover from jet lag , but I found that there seemed to be more Americans in Dublin than actual Irish people, which kind of defeats the point of visiting Ireland in my opinion. Exploring the rest of Ireland was spectacular. And having explored at least 15 different countries, I can honestly say that visiting Ireland in some ways felt like Home, and I’m not even Irish. The Irish people are the warmest, most friendly, musically talented, fun loving people in the world. And honestly, no one tells a better story or joke than the Irish. Their wit is phenomenal. The educational tours I went on in Ireland have got to be the best in the world.
ОтветитьThe frequency of the Irish dropping the F-bomb was a huge culture shock…. It actually seemed like it wasn’t even a swear word in Ireland.
ОтветитьThe reason for not accepting AMEX is simple. Transaction fees… the AMEX fees are considerably more than Visa/Discover etc..
ОтветитьYour use of sorry sounds like pretty much the same as anywhere I have been in the English speaking world.
Ответитьthis was so helpful!! Going to Dublin/Belfast/Cork/Killarney, and I usually don't let the door slam if the person is 10 sec or less behind me! Thx again, I'll let you know how it worked out!
ОтветитьNo1 Don't comment on Ireland recent demographic transformation unless you want to spend 2 years in an Irish prison.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing a bit of information, history, humor and tips. I love learning about my heritage. I learned sarcasm and swearing as a wee child at home in the US. 😉
ОтветитьI was in Ireland and ordered a hamburger, medium. He said it comes in one size. Apparently all hamburgers in Ireland are well done in temperature.
ОтветитьThe sorry and the each person buying everybody a round is so very Dutch also.
ОтветитьFirst one should be to not call Ireland the "the emerald isle", never heard that said before by an Irish person.
ОтветитьAll these tips apply to Scotland too. In Edinburgh we say, "If you don't like the weather right now, wait ten minutes. It will change". I have Irish ancestry. My tip is try the sausages and the bread. The food is grand.
ОтветитьDefny grand!
ОтветитьMy lady friend and I are planning on traveling to Ireland. She's traveled there before but this will be my first time. I'd like to rent a sports car and seeing a good part of the country. Thanks for sharing your advice.
ОтветитьThings to Not Do in Ireland unless you want to be arrested by the Woke Gov police is :
Be critical of illegal immigrants who are squeezing all Irish taxpayer funds for their hotel rooms and meals and health care:
2. Be critical of Pro Hamas protesters who don't see anything wrong with eradicating the Jewish population.
3. Be critical of transgender and transgenderism. Or misgender a transgender.
4. State any comment that could be construed as "right wing" politics.
5. Talk about deporting illegal immigrants.
6. Have any memes on your phone that the "gardi" will interpret as "hate speech".
But other than that your fine...
Ireland is in the British isles though
ОтветитьI enjoyed your video. I’m a Yank, living on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State about a 2 hour drive and ferry ride from Seattle. I’ve been to Ireland and I found the Irish people to be friendly, helpful, and very direct. Thank you.
ОтветитьDoes this include truth bombs now?
ОтветитьWhat about the expression..."crack". As in "that's good crack". Is that common?
ОтветитьThank you so much. I'm from Luxembourg and we hate when people speak french to us thinking it's our mother tongue.
Ответить"The visas that you would need to enter there are European Union visas."
WRONG!
There are no EU visas. There are Schengen Area visas, which incorporates most of the EU, besides Ireland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Cyprus, but a Schengen visa is no good for Ireland.
If you need a visa to come to Ireland, it must be an Irish visa, or if you're Indian or Chinese, a British BIVS visa.
"We typically tip in places like restaurants, pubs, hairdressers, taxi men"
Since when?
What a great video! Thank you
ОтветитьLived in ireland for 5 years and honestly one of the best places and people wise overalL. Ireland will always have a special place in my heart
ОтветитьThank you!
Ответитьi loved this video Where is a good place to hike ?
ОтветитьAny Craic? Cracked me up 😂😂😂. I’ve been twice in the country and I loved it even though it was for business. Mornings are chilly even in August but it’s nice during day time. I always carried a hoody or a jacket just in case it showers or I’d get back late.
Ответить10 years ago would have been fine to visit. Now, Not a chance. Your politicians ruined it.
ОтветитьPack for all the seasons???😅
ОтветитьI love you
