Many comments are about the victory of free journalism. Unfortunately, there was no quality though. Putin got the chance to tell Russia's story. During that time, among other things, he mentions the period of disputes with the Polish-Lithuanian Union. At one point, he talks about the "eternal peace" with Poland in 1686. Right after that, he says, "it all lasted until the revolution." However, the October Revolution happened in 1917. Was anything significant between 1686 and 1917? Of course. Russia, Austria, and Prussia carried out three partitions of Poland - in 1772, 1793, and 1795. Poland disappeared from the map for 123 years. That's how this "eternal peace" looked like. Supposedly, Tucker Carlson knows history, but somehow he didn't remind Putin about this issue at that moment.
Then Putin moves on to further conflicts that took place after the October Revolution. He forgets to mention that in 1920, the communists tried to spread their great ideas westward through Polish territory. Fortunately, Poland won that war. Putin goes straight to saying, "peace with Poland was signed in 1921." Carlson again forgets to ask for details.
Later on, Putin says, "Poland collaborated with Hitler," only to later claim that "in 1939, Poland was uncompromising, so Hitler had to attack it to carry out his plans." Then Putin claims that thanks to the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, Russia regained its lands. In practice, this pact was another partition of Poland, and in September 1939, the Polish army fought against two totalitarian systems simultaneously. Between 1939 and 1945, 17 percent of Poles died. Primarily murdered by Germans and Russians.
Putin also talks about the western lands that Poland received after World War II. He doesn't talk about the eastern lands that were taken by Russia. He doesn't talk about how the Red Army murdered thousands of Polish officers in Katyn. He doesn't talk about how after the war, Russia continued to control Poland and killed those who wanted to fight for Polish independence until the end.
Russian occupation of Poland lasted until 1989. During this time, we had to endure all the hardships of communism. Older generations couldn't travel freely, develop their own businesses, or enjoy all the benefits that capitalism brings. This only changed after 1989 when we managed to regain true independence. A strong turn towards capitalism and freedom made us develop rapidly.
In summary, the first 20 minutes are about manipulated history of Russia, told by Putin. Carlson never asks tough questions and instead almost uses Putin's language, for example, asking about "Polish oppression." Embarrassing.
