Eerie how Lorenzo Bandini suggested this spot for the crash to the filmmakers, and then 1 year later his fatal crash happened in that same spot.

During the time that the crew was in Monza for the shooting I won a race and at the award ceremony Francoise Hardy gave me a kiss for the victory. After this victory, the director made me do the stunt driver for the actors. There was a beautiful girl who is still my wife and sometimes she reminds me of this episode. Memories now too distant in time!

Just as you get to the amazing crash sequence it disappears under a blizzard of billboards for other videos; sucks; and you should do something about it.

Fond memories..VERY fond memories...my Father was in Vietnam..so my late Mother and I tried to see a matinee every Saturday to pass time..
We saw this on the BIG screen. Gawd this clip brings back memories and a tear . Thanks for posting.

The city of Monaco looks deserted in this clip compared to the Monaco F-1 races these days. Times were better back in the day. Room to breathe.

I remember going to see this movie with my friends.. Wow, cinematography holds up extremely well. I was so inspired and quickly bought some headers for my 1961 VW bug. Didn’t go much faster, but it sure sounded like it! Great movie.

My Dad took me to see this at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood when I was 10. This amazing impression that it made on me still last till this day. An amazing time captured by an innovative and talented Director, along with a special mix of real racing and actors behind the wheels made for a truly memorable movie.

The pre-Charles Leclerc era. Before Lewis Hamilton, Dan Ricciardo & Max Verstappen.

Still the best movie about motor racing ever made. I remember watching it in the quasi-3D CINERAMA format in early 1967 when the movie was released. Amazing stuff at the time.

Cool movie that must've been challenging to create. If it were real I think it would've been better to be in the car that hit the water at a much slower speed than the driver crashing on the roadway before entering the water

I believe they built a special rig for a cameraman to sit on the side of the car to get all the onboard shots of the car driving through Monaco. Considering how treacherous Monaco is today, I can only imagine how scary it would be to be hanging off a car that has much smaller/less grippy tires and zero downforce.
