eBay Scammers Won't Stand A Chance If You Do These 5 Things!

I have had a couple of buyers send me email an address wanting me to communicate that way. When I respond back " I'm sorry ALL communication MUST be through Ebay." It pretty well shuts them down.

Hello, I have a buyer that said the zipper wasn't working when I tested it and it was when I shipped. It was an expesnive jacket. They sent me a message that they want full refund last Friday and I responded I would and they would need to send back. I already received another message on Monday saying where is my full refund and where is label. What is best way to get a return label to them? They are clear across the east coast from me. Does USPS print these and I mail it to them? This is First time I had to do a return. Thank you! I can't get through on eBay and I researched but can't find anything. Thank you!

Photo/ video proof doesn't really work either

Except the ebay tracking updates are absolutely horrible. I have stuff I've ordered and the eBay tracking will say my item is out for delivery in a different state then say delivered, and ill get the item the next day or 2 later. So for buyers thats not really cool. Especially when you live in a high theft area and can never tell when your item was delivered. When it does get stolen, whos accountable? Shouldn't be me

Can anyone help with a question I've long been seeking an answer to, please? :) What do you do if a buyer (scammer, in this case) says you shipped them the wrong item when you clearly didn't? Say they complain that you shipped them a rock instead of a used camera for instance. What is the best way to prevent against this type of scam? I'd assume recording the packing process would help but a truly unscrupulous seller could still ship the wrong item or some useless item.
One other question, if you do video the packing process, can a link to YT or similar be put into the listing without violating eBay policy?

Most of the scams right now are coming out of India. Ebay has brought them into the fold to sell wholesale the US and they are running fake gold scams galore. Counterfeit gold US coinage. Ebay has been told what is going on and nothing is done to stop the scammers. Same is true of Etsy. Also Etsy has become a bad scammer site with million of scammer buyers that open cases after a week and get their money refunded on very pricey items that are still in customs. They win everytime and Etsy never sides with the sellers and only covers items up to 250 dollars. Be careful these companies are desperate to hold onto their total buyer and seller numbers and they never come down on the scammers because they don't care and those people are numbers that make their bottom line look good at the Quarterly reports. After all Scammers are people too right!

hi, what do i do if a seller ,,,,, The sender requested that we hold this package ,,,,the carrier,,,,i had a package delivered and ups took it back saying sender(seller) requested it be held,,,seller saying its ups?....i've bought alot on ebay never had something like this done

No matter what the advice is presented here, it still won't prevent a scam buyer from getting their refund through a credit card chargeback outside of eBay. You may get money back through eBay, but at the end of the day the scam buyer will still keep the item and get it for free through their cc institution.

I've only been scammed by sellers not buyers

2 things I had someone try the wrong item scam and I just ignored them and they eventually went away that’s 1 and 2 I had when I purchased a item that was very valuable to me where my landlord at the time stole my package on me and unfortunately since they dropped it in the wrong place and marked delivered I never got the item and I contacted the usps because I was in a big city at the time so they were overwhelmed and just poorly staffed

Scam number 6, after 30 days has gone after sending item as i have had this happen 2 me b4 had a message saying i did not receive and in reality who would wait a month for a post as i spoke to ebay b4 and it is a 30 day policy so after 30 days has gone you don't have to send a refund!

#3. I ALWAYS video / record myself PACKING the item complete with item inspection. Do this, and the escalation department will make their decision in your favor. I've had the "this is not what I ordered" scam many times. On MPC, you can multi view screen shot an entire video and it shuts them up. Then you BAN them. I have no return policy and it weeds out the buyers who think they can return something at MY expense for ridiculous reasons.

What about scams when buying. I only buy stuff on eBay i dont sell. I get my shares of scamers.

So what if the buyer just says the package was empty, you might have packaging pictures, but that that does not prove the package was actually shipped that way, I ask because this the one scenario holding me back from selling. thanks

I've had someone tell me that they received an empty box one time. I stopped selling on ebay. If I sell again, I'm going to take a picture or video of packing their item. Thanks for the tips!

Scam #5 is not necessarily correct. I sold an item which performed and looked like new. The buyer gave me negative feedback, then demanded some money. I contacted the buyer and assured him the item was EXACTLY as described, and I showed photos of the item (used in the description). He said that a major part had been broken before I sent it. This was NOT the case, so I asked him to send photos of 'the broken part' and I would repair/replace/refund as necessary. He did not do this, so I asked ebay to intervene. They said they would/could not retract the negative feedback, or investigate. I can only conclude that they always side with the buyer, and as such, I have never sold on ebay since. Honest people get scammed and taken for granted, but in this case ebay has lost revenue and respect from me.

I got scammed, too. Guy buys a lighter that was NIB and claimed that it didn't work. Showed pictures of it opened cause it had a leak. He requested a refund and a return shipping. Somehow, I accidentally gave the refund and paid for the return shipping. He never returned the item 😢

What about buys that give an address in the U.S., but they are in some other country? This one comes up a lot for me.

Hi , what I should do I bought a dash cam on eBay for a good deal on it , but I received a different dash cam that cost like 40$ but I paid for a 4k dash cam 250$ , I contacted a seller and he apologized and say just cancel the refund and I will send you the one you order , so I did cancel the refund but he never send it , what you think I should do now

I just tried to comment and it disappeared. So here we go again. You defend the sellers but I have seen a LOT of crooked sellers on here. I am 73 and retired and getting scammed by crooked sellers really hurts. Last year there were sellers selling paint kits advertised as "new" when they were 50 years old. I bought 3 or 4 and got dried out psint, crumbling sponge brushes, evaporated extenders and so forth. They may have still been sealed but advertising a 50-year old product as NEW is just pure fraud. I checked withe the company that made them and they were discontinued in the 70s. No I didn't complain but I left NASTY reviews to alert other buyers. It wasn't just one seller either. It was every seller pushing these items. As a 73 year old retiree this hurt financially. They were being sold from $25 on up. While you are condemning buyers I see too many dishonest sellers on Ebay. Another time I ordered a NEW caulking gun and got a used one with dried csulk still on it that I had to chip and scrape off.

Why items with free shipping has no tracking number provide on ebay

I was scammed on eBay, I sold a drill to a person who provided an APO address, which normally isn’t a problem, the scam goes like this, the package gets handed to the local carrier, who drops it off at a storage container where no one can sign for it, then they say they never got the package, it wasn’t signed for, then eBay says the proof of delivery was on me. I sent the tracking to eBay, they sided w the buyer and refunded their money. So the took it back from me and I was out a drill. Then the storage container gets shipped.

ebay will not look at videos. Videos can be faked. You can make a video and then off camera do something else. Ebay should consider feedback in this but they dont. Just saying it sucks.

starting to think people shouldn't be recommending pirate ship for ebay. nowadays, the rates are about the same and I'm not 100% confident I trust ebay to check the addresses match. I wouldn't put it past them to side with the buyer just because of some typo somewhere.

My wife and i were power sellers but we quit because of paypal backing the scammers. When they change the feedback is when ebay went to hell. I should have moved my operation to Amazon. It is hard to win when ebay or PayPal won't back you. And let the buyers win ever dispute

I had SEVERAL recently items says "delivered" but never was. All were CHINA SELLERS FROM THE US. BE AWARE, MANY FAKES, Example, Mopar Engine oil filter was fake.

Damn, make more of these videos with scenarios etc. And should I be scared of PayPal? Chargebacks and their horror stories scare the hell out of me. Make a part 2, PLEEEEASE!

I had a scammer that had two different addresses one was from IL and the other from Canada. Which they even send me the same offer I sent to them. Then when I talked about shipping their they said they wanted to pay me through PayPal. Which I new it was a an scam. Make sure you block your scammers.

I sold a coin, the buyer sent a message saying item not received, I uploaded a video of me putting it in the post box and I uploaded it on You Tube for them to see, I didn't hear from them again. They can go and scam someone else, not this little Black Duck.

As a buyer I didn’t get an item that the tracking shown was delivered. I went to the post office and talked to the post master. He goes in back and comes out and tells me it was delivered to the wrong address. I was like great, where was it delivered to? He told be he didn’t know. What the mailman is suppose to do is scan it at your house and the gps will show where it was delivered, but a lot of times what they’ll do is scan all their packages at their truck and then start delivering. All he knew was that it was scanned in the wrong neighborhood. So the tracking number said it was delivered and I was just out the money, plus I looked like a scammer. I could have pushed it but it was a $12.00 item and I had already wasted enough time on it. Moral of the story: sometimes the scammer isn’t a scammer. PS—I’m an eBay seller.

There is a record album return scam. They'll send thier bad copy back and Ebay won't back you up.

Gotta give a heads up on # 4- the switch a roo. Just had that happen. I always take pics at packaging and send to customer. Customer received the autograph card. Complained to E Bay and showed a picture of a worthless card and said that’s what I sent. I showed E Bay ALL photos with correspondence from the customer acknowledging the card was on the way. Guess what - E Bay sent the customer paid postage to return the worthless card to me. E Bay took the $103.00 out of my account and gave a full refund DESPITE all my evidence. I filed a appeal but it was a done deal. E Bay does lean more toward the buyer. The scammer won that day!

Once they return it to you you seem like you're stuck. A collectible toy car customer complained about it was damaged. So he returned it for a full refund when I got it back the box was not damaged the car was destroyed I refuse but since I had the car in my possession they gave him his refund there was nothing wrong with the outside of the box and don't count on Postal Service giving you any money for damages they say there's $50 parcel there's $0 on parcel that's a scam by itself I don't refund anything and I make it clear if it's damaged you have to take it up with the person that delivered it but I do take a picture of it when it shipped

Yes you are the winner pay 72 I click payed 72 pounds when I received it I suddenly saw sold 116 pounds I called e bay they said other bids made yours was the highest you must pay 116 the seller I sent him a msg he said it's nothing to do with him I told him I still have to send feed back I was not happy I believe I got scammed here e bay saw my120 pounds and decided to charged me that in stead of 72 pound my advice is to photo the amount e bay ask you for and later if they over charge you you have proof for them
