Apple FIXED the iPhone 14 Pro Always-On Display! FINALLY!

I prefer wallpaper off just because it's more obvious when it is actually locked.

Hi, how to only get notifications without waking the screen?

I was today years old when I learned my 14 pro could do this…

On Android you can have choose between seeing nothing, seeing the full messages, or only seeing icons of apps that have noticifcations. Apple is always behind the curves. C'mon Apple, get on with the program.

It’s so much better than the “raise to wake”. Every time I would take my phone out to check the time it would unlock and open then potentially call someone when back in the pocket or you have to lock it, with always on it just shows the time put it back in the pocket and it will shut the screen staying locked the whole time unless you slide to open the phone. It’s a much better method to use my phone to check the time ect.. stay safe all.

You can make it so that notifications don’t show until the phone is unlocked sounds like a stupid complaint

You could just go to settings > notifications > show previews and set it to when unlocked
In that way it only says notification on the always on

Wish they would let you have notifications count on aod and regular notifications on Lock Screen. Plus they need to move the clock periodically as I don’t want my phone to get screen burn..

My phone doesn’t even do this but I have it in always on to display.

wow, that seems like a no brainier from a previous Samsung user having access to aod for literally years already. I have an iPhone 13 pro max and i just cant believe it didn't come with AOD.

I had the always-on display switched off. but today I found it on. But I never activated it back. Why did it move back to “on” ?

They should let you turn the always on display with your focus modes.

why does my 14pro max just say "always on" instead of "always on display" and my phone just has the on and off. there's no option for wallpaper or notification

I guess lots of people were unaware that you could set your notification to not show the contents until your phone is unlocked. It would just show a notification from the app, but not display the contents of said notification. These changes however are welcomed. As not you’ll have a much more traditional always on display.

Hi my iPhone 14 pro max is up to date software and I can’t find this option it’s only one click of turn it on or off when I turn it on I can’t see any other options

still rubbish apple always on is crap only one style of clock and that stupid outline around the island i leave my off until they can come up with something better

that's good. I guess my only concern with apple's version of this is whether they have done enough to mitigate screen burn like android phones have done. I've heard they have and they haven't. Don't know which to believe just yet as the feature is still relatively new for apple phones

I like it in concept. My problem with the always on display is that it always looks on. Being able to turn off the wallpaper should help with this.

Hmm what ios are you on? I'm.on 16.1.1 and don't have that option. Are you on 16.2 beta?

Personally I didn’t mind that my wallpaper was displayed even when my phone was locked. As for the notifications, I have it so previews are only available once Face ID recognizes me. Great video.

I think it’s s bit of an exaggeration that everyone was complaining about Apple’s AOD. I’ve had an iPhone 14 Pro Max since launch and I’ve enjoyed the AOD just as it is. People love to complain about everything. The notification complaints are silly when u can set them to not show while locked.

Apple fans getting excited by such basic customizations coming late to the show and which shouldn't even have been missing in the first place. Apple OSs are light years behind other OSs like Android and Windows in terms of customization and functionality. Yeah, they are sometimes faster but no doubt when they are so striped out. We can compare them with the cars modified for racing which are basically having nothing at the interior besides the drivers chair and the wheel - but they are light and fast. 😀 Even the speed difference at least for the day to day task is not there anymore compared to Android flagships. The iPhone 14 Pro must be the worst and buggiest Apple release to date (together with iOS 16). And wait people are waiting in lines, for months(!!!), to get them 🤦🏻‍♂️

I think your judgement is off… these are the opposite of real problems.

When did you get IOS 16.2 and I don’t have in my iPhone 14pro Max and There is no more update from iOS 16.1.1. I feel battery finish quicker than before within 3 weeks

Yes, this is definitely a step in the right direction. But the fine-tuning for this mode is still not enough. For example, it wouldn't hurt to set a time when the Always On display would turn off. For example, during sleeping hours, etc. (I don't want to choose a specific focus mode for this). And also to adjust the brightness of this mode, since many people find it quite bright.

Does it give you a count of the number of notifications you have rather than showing a preview?

Apple always comes late to give the feature their own special touch but with always on display its just not good. On samsung you can turn the always om display to only turn on when you tap the screen, the clock turns off after 10 sec. Moreover only the app icons are shown for notifications but apple is giving some functionality features on its always on display like you can control media etc
