ENGØ GÅRD was constructed during the historic reign of the United Kingdom 's famed Queen Victoria who sat on the British throne from 1837 to 1901. originally built in 1845 as the popular summer country in Phil's Pensjonat. Engl Gård Hotel and Restaurantid among the Norways most historic destinations. The spectacular established has been manage several unique characters over the years including Fridtjof Phil and his sister Daisy. Fridtjof then invited his second wife Dorothy to help the business. Dorothy was a string minded English woman that change the style of the building to that unmistakable British style country Home soon luminaries and prominent personalities of Norway and other countries choose Engø Gård to experience an intimate and private escape from.The inn closed during world war2 but later re opened during 1960 when it served a summer residence for the owners . In 1983 Nina Felling and Harald acquired the hotel and oversaw extensive restoration, expansion and upgrades. The hotel established as Engø Gård in the summer 2000 and has remain an exquisite choice for luxury accomodations and gracious service.
Engøs Historic charm is distguisable by the surrounding yard which has remained it's original state since Fridtjof Phil erected the dining rooms. spisetuebygning and Drengestuene in 1920. While modern enhancement have been made in recent years the unique features of the original buildings have been maintained.
