That was a very great video and good information about the valves I have never come across with other channels supplying any info like this.
Thank you for all informations you’ve supplied to us.

Thanks Mark for the explanation of cylinder thread sizing. I can use this information for advanced purchase of manifold valves!

Thank you for this very informative video Mark. I’m planning on getting my first ever first stage, would you be able to recommend a Yoke or DIN first stage over the other?

There were 4 valve types when I was certified. Not fitments, but VALVE TYPES. Based on the internals, not the fittings.
Today, shops and boats go hysterical if you show up with J valves "because they can fail" (by accidentally being tripped).
I say sure, that could happen to a mindless diver. So what? If it fails, you've got a K valve and you're out of air. Which could happen if you had started with a K valve anyway. Duh?
IIRC the other two valve types might have been M and R. Never met 'em.
The USN and NOAA still swear by J valves, but only XS Scuba still makes them. Damn pricey, too.

My buddy left a full 3300# Alu80+ tank in the sun one day. Burst disk. Now, shops like to change them at annual VIP time. Back then, they were ignored forever, so salt water eventually got them. I just grease the disc: No salt water contact, no corrosion. Don't tell me I have to give you lunch money every year to change it.

J-valves make excellent carry handles. Pick one up sometime!

A parsimonious smear of Krytox or Crystalube, used on valve/tank threads, will also stop galling. 02 safe.
