Lame, Still play on 1/4 graph paper with our old Blue Book set.
ОтветитьHow about a game like boulders gate three, but it’s the modules and also the AL seasons content.
Like a mmo. But with hardcore D&D mechanics. Worked for neverwinter online, until they nuked the game.
When is the release date?
ОтветитьA big flop. I didn't like it, I prefer the traditional way of playing RPG
ОтветитьHere after playing Baldur’s Gate 3 - 😬
ОтветитьNo thanks, if I wanted to play a video game I would play a video game. A tabletop RPG is an exercise in imagination, containing real interactions between real people and constantly staring at a computer running a video game detracts from the whole point. I would understand if this were simply a way for people who couldn't be in the same room to have a shared map with tokens representing their characters, but it looks like an unnecessarily elaborate video game level editor that stifles the creativity that comes from visualising things using your own imagination. It's just like when people claim reading a book is too hard and just watch the movie adaptation so they don't have to strain their brains.
The people in this advertisement are also in the same room together, so there is zero reason for them to use this software when they can use a piece of paper and a pencil and actually talk to other people in real life instead of staring at a computer at all times. For people who are not in the same room, this software is inferior to a zoom meeting where the DM has a paper map on camera.
Dumbed down D&D for the degeneration!
ОтветитьDoes this VTT have built in video chat? Doesn't look like it. How can you have an immersive experience if you can't see your friends' faces? So this will rely on discord or something similar.
So once again, rich elitists have taken something that nerds cherish and are trying to ruin it. Whatever.
why the hell would I want everyone to sit at the same table with a laptop? You don't support Audio voice and cams? this makes no sense. You need cams and audio to play over the internet.
ОтветитьLooks amazing! How do you sign up to playtest this?
ОтветитьMy forever DM hates it, seems like a cumbersome system without much engagement compared to the intimate minds eye theatre, also lacking the tactile nature of physical miniatures that have you get past the "sameyness" of the tiles (tbf just draw maps on checkered paper works too). Plus the aesthetics seem limiting unless there is somehow an incredible repertoire of assets (which I doubt), and I'd rather pester the character artist in my server to draw my character than shill for a 3d miniature.
Ответитьthis game is probably the reason why Larian studio said there not going to make an official GM mode for BG3.
there is no evidence for this but one can guess WoTC told them not too because it will hurt this project.
because divinity original sin 2 has gm mode so you know they probably want to do it.
but they said they won't do it for BG3.
God have mercy. You people will want to monetize everything. Wizards of the coast and their lackeys suck balls big time
ОтветитьAnyone know if there have been any updates recently? They mentioned playtests coming later this year, but I haven't heard a peep about it.
Ответитьhow can one hate this??? this looks so frikin cool, far better than foundry and roll etc...
ОтветитьCame here to see what this game looks like after trying baldurs gate 3 for the first time this past weekend.
This feels way more underwhelming, but to be fair this is supposed to be a exact replica of a table top experience. So it looks like it fits I guess.
Cashgrab be like :
ОтветитьYou show more time showing us the people sat at the table than the actual game. How is that intelligent? Are you showing the first look at the VTT, or are you showing a bunch of people sat around a table?
My issue with this whole presentation is it feels... 'forced'. It doesn't feel like it's recorded BY players FOR players. It feels like a corporate video that the higher-ups organised. This is probably why you have 2.3k Likes to 2.7k Dislikes.
I’m fairly certain when bg3 has moding support in the future, it would kill this.
ОтветитьHere's the problem with this game: If i wanted to play a basic tabletop version of dnd with the occasional graphical flourish that lightens things up, I can think of 3 online game engines that ARE NOT subscription based and give me all i need to do everything here with the only things missing being the mediocre map builder and 3D figurines shown in this video.
If I want fully animated spells, fully animated characters who react in real time to being hit or wounded, wonderfully created environments, and limitless possibilities once the modding potential is fully unleashed, I'm going to play Baldur's Gate 3. All it's going to take is someone releasing a mapbuilder/campaign builder program that lets us use in game assets in any way we want and this...well I want to say "cash grab" but I don't know how agrious the microtransactions are going to be just yet so I'll just call it "A poor attempt".
This "poor attempt" at appealing to dnd players is going to be so overshadowed and destroyed by Baldur's Gate 3 that its gonna make the Shadowcursed lands look like the feywild in comparison to how mangled this poor attempt of a game is going to be looking.:P
Looks awesome!
ОтветитьNot going to lie the black guy kinda kill it, redo it remove him
ОтветитьFunny how they are sitting at a tabletop with dice and they don't even use it.
ОтветитьNot hitting the big 3 things
Fun
Convenience
Authenticity
I've been playing D&D on Owlbear for a while, and it's been fun and convenient as hell. I don't know what he means by "authenticity"
*Walks in to a room: "This is amazing!"
Ответитьdude, we're gonna have to pay like a $20 monthly subscription just to launch the thing and triple A prices for the most miniscule DLC imaginable, this is such an obvious cash-grab.
ОтветитьYuck lol
Ответить*plays baldurs gate even harder
ОтветитьAnd then there is Balders Gate....LMAO
ОтветитьWTF, why going at a table with friend if this is to play alone with a computer in front of you, it's not the essence of D&D, this is a parody.
ОтветитьThis is an amazing idea, but having the requirement of all the players needing to be subscribed to use the service is too steep.
This should be a Free-to-Play program, with paid modules.
So, If I want to run a Descent into Avernus campaign, charge me for the modules, monster and spell sheets and the figurines, but do not charge the players as well. I think forcing everyone to put in cash to play this would too much of a hurdle for large majority of people to jump over.
Whoever thought this was a good idea when Baldurs Gate 3 was already being worked on should be fired
ОтветитьLOL, literally just describing a VTT. Talespire does a lot of this already, y'all, and foundry has a lot of stuff that adds some really nice functionality including animations. Maybe this will be a good option, but I suspect the price will be too high.
ОтветитьWhat is the latest update for this?
ОтветитьI bet the 5 minute fight takes like 4 hours to set up. That's why I don't use these, takes forever
ОтветитьDo people use vtts in person?
ОтветитьThis would work better in VR
Ответить"Fun" - This doesn't look very fun, it looks like a video game without the game part.
"Convenient" - This doesn't look very convenient, it looks rather cumbersome for both player and DM (which I am guessing you will attempt to convert to an AI powered subscription model the second you can). What are the hardware specs required to render all of these fancy animations in real time?
"Authenticity" - This doesn't look very authentic, this pre-alpha trailer appears very forced.
There are perfectly good gaming tools right in front of you, a game board, dice, and some handbooks. Why not use those?
For a 75% theater of the mind GM, this is the complete antithesis of my game style. I cannot imagine running a hexcrawl through this.
Am I the only one that’s excited for this?
ОтветитьI want some to dissect the EULA as soon as it comes out because, after the OGL fiasco, I am willing to bet that they will try to use the VTT EULA to take control and ownership back.
ОтветитьI don't even play DnD, but I know enough to think what is the point? Aren't you supposed play this game to be with your friends and use your imagination? I know some people have physical setups, but at least you're looking your friends in the face when playing.
Ответить"enable people to play how they want to" no you're taking away from that. Pen and paper will die with this. What a sad time to be playing dnd. I want my video games to be separate from my table top. These visual tabletops shouldn't be so detailed they are meant to be an aid not removing people's ability to fantasize and imagine it for themselves.
ОтветитьDoes it have minis for Pinkerton agents to send against the players?
ОтветитьYou shouldn't let your players say things like, "I'd like to roll perception to see if..."
They should just say "can I figure out where the scratching is coming from?"
Classic noob DM mistake
Keep practicing and you'll be a real dungeon master someday.
Looks amazing!! And the 3 dimensions will make using a map more informative, but likely more time consuming to prep for the DM. I will use it for online play and hope players aren't glued to the screen the whole time. Thats the tricky bit as it looks so good. But D&D has always been a game to invigorate and stimulate the imagination.
So as long as you narrate Scenes first and then you present the map for tactics just like you do at the table with pen and paper and minis. But its up to the players to not become fixated on the screen and end up with a more videogame experience of the mind.
Having said all that, I am looking forward to experiencing how this all plays out!
I'm sold so long as this comes with a gridded option, dynamic lighting and vision, and a robust DM interface. Also hope there will be options for fewer cartoony tokens in the future, hard to run a horror campaign with everything looking soft and huggable.
ОтветитьHopefully the digital dice is only optional, most of us become attached to our dice and spend a lot of money on them. Beyond that this literally looks like a game changer
ОтветитьI never played D&D before but I was always under the impression that D&D was about imagination and being taken to the world within one’s mind and imagining the fight scenes etc through the master?
Ответить
