Too much talking and not enough of her playing.
ОтветитьArgentina papah
ОтветитьThe word "genius" is often misused in todays mediocre society. Martha Argerich is a living genius in the true sense of the word.
ОтветитьWhat an amazing human being...
ОтветитьIt just goes to show you that being a concert pianist, let alone just a lounge player, requires some degree of photographic memory.
ОтветитьMartha's amazing, but let's not forget about Vladimir Horowitz since you made reference to the best known Classical musician of the previous century. His is my favorite version of Schumann's Kreisleriana which he recorded at age 82.
ОтветитьGreat video, Rick, I never heard of Martha and this was a real experience to hear her playing. I'm kinda convinced she is an alien from the planet Grand Piano or something. Like you said, how is this possible? A sort of autism or just plain genius? Keep up the good work, mate.
ОтветитьNot to be too pedantic but how can someone who people are largely unaware of be the most famous Classical Musician? I would certainly say Segovia is FAR MORE FAMIUS!
ОтветитьIt certainly is QUITE IMPRESSIVE but I would be more shocked had I not watched Segovia perform BEAUTIFULLY at age 92 or 93 in 1986 or Les Paul retain most of his abilities in his late 80s as well! I think if you continuously perform your abilities don't drop off as much with age!
ОтветитьI have just seen this video (actually I discovered this channel yesterday). Being from Argentina of course I know about her, but outside the classical music world she is relatively unknown. Thank you for showing her performances Rick!
ОтветитьShe’s my favorite of all time.
ОтветитьArthur Rubinstein was still killing it on his 80s too. A lot of those old musicians lived a long while. Intellectual stimulation works wonders
ОтветитьMartha Argerich speaks Italian too
ОтветитьAGREED :)
You need to see and hear her to appreciate her.
I found Rick Beato after watch Martha. Just kidding. I did want to see what Rick has to say as I was down my own Argerich rabbit hole.
ОтветитьThank you 🙂👏👏👏🙏
ОтветитьHer 3rd Prokofiev and 3rd Rach are mindblowing!
ОтветитьSaludos de toda la familia Argerich en Estados Unidos
ОтветитьThat’s my cousin😊
ОтветитьIntroduce the first piano piece sounds nice. What composer.
ОтветитьMartha Argerich is LIVE.
ОтветитьRick, you mentioned that seasoned jazz artists might not know who Martha Argerich is, and that amazed you. This morning, I mentioned her to my boyfriend, a classical pianist (amateur) saying I had watched your video about her, and her replied, "Martha Argerich? Who's she?" Talk about being amazed!! 😳
ОтветитьHonky tonk
ОтветитьShe is just incredible .
She is a monument 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋👍👍
I have just discovered Martha Argerich, after my mom saw her in concert last night (18 September 2023) in Bucharest. She told me that Martha is the best pianist in the world, so I started reading on her. After listening to your video, I feel so much awe, like I have just discovered a new planet.
ОтветитьHer Rach 3 <3
ОтветитьWell, just watching this video makes me feel pretty inadequate and humbled. Just a God-like ability that is hard to understand.
Bravo.
We have all been down that rabbit hole. Martha Argerich is extraordinary, there is nothing else to say.
ОтветитьGracias amigo. We can offer you more in our country.
ОтветитьI live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This winter - July/August - I saw her at Teatro Colón in the Festival which is named after her. She played - concerts and chambers music - together with Nelson Goerner, Sergei Nakariakov and Charles Dutoit (her ex-husband). The Argerich Festival started in 2001. It was a privilege to see and enjoy her art at the age of 82 yo.
ОтветитьIMO She is really the greatest pianist ever. Noone can be compared with her.
ОтветитьTwenty years ago II first heard of her after checking out Mozart's concertos in CD in the public library. She was performing Mozart's concertos K. 466 in D minor
Ответить2.49 " Beautiful" ! he says but CUT !
ОтветитьAhhh...HOW much do you know about classical composers and players?!? If you DID, you'd know that playing at 80 and BEYOND is not at ALL that astounding! Not to take anything away from Martha Argerich, there we DOZENS of others! MANY more! Let's see...starting at 80, here is a list of just some of them!!
BRUCH, Max (1/6/1838-10/2/1920),,, STRAUSS, Richard (6/11/1864-9/8/1949),,, VAUGHAN WILLIAMS, Ralph (10/12/1872-8/26/1958),,, SAINT-SAENS, Charles-Camille (10/9/1835-12/16/1921),,, VERDI, Giuseppe Fortunino Frencesco (10/9/1813-1/27/1901),,, STRAVINSKY, Igor (6/17/1882-4/6/1971),,, COPLAND, Aaron (11/14/1900-12/2/1990),,, SIBELIUS, Jean (Johan) Julius Christian (12/8/1865-9/20/1957) THESE are just SOME of them--names you MIGHT at least be familiar with one hopes!! And perhaps most amazing of them ALL...was: SEGOVIA, Andres (2/21/1893-6/2/1987)
Perhaps you should educate yourself a BIT more about the history of classical musicians!! You've been "schooled"!! Go back to class!
And in my opinion she is the world's best living pianist. Bar none
ОтветитьWhat sort of title is this. Who says that getting older makes you lose your skills. It has to do only with the overall health condition that doesn't have always to do with someone's age. You can be unhealthy and incapable of doing anything at any age you know!
Also getting older means getting more experienced. Argerich is way better now, more expressive and more accurate on what she wants to express than she was when she was younger.
Absolutely fascinating! Thank you.
ОтветитьJust saw her last night in Teatro Colon playing Stravinsky and Beethoven. What a genius
ОтветитьThank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I never heard of her, like so many I guess. You wouldn't know that she had nerve problems and was shy to look at her face. She doesn't show any emotion on her face while she is playing that I can see.
ОтветитьHer Rach 3rd here on YT is legendary. The clip you showed.
ОтветитьRick, it’s actually pronounced “Marta.” But wonderful to see you have the same love for her as so many.
ОтветитьRiccardino, please interview Martha.
ОтветитьThank you very much for your a story about a great pianist. I live in Moscow and I really like the pianist Denis Matsuev. do you know anything about him?
ОтветитьA true legend
ОтветитьSome people are freakishly technically gifted. I mean freakishly gifted!
ОтветитьAyer tocó de nuevo en el Teatro Colón, en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tiene 82 años y toca como Messi corre con la pelota al pie gambeteando jugadores. Cracks.
ОтветитьRick enjoy this Schumann piano quintet op 44 as an encore...
Impressive by all means, even for a young piano player.
Great tribute to a musical genius. Forgive me if this comes across as sexist, but she was also incredibly beautiful as a young woman. God went all out when he created her.
ОтветитьI've come to learn that, when you're talking about the best of the absolute best, there is almost something inhuman about them. Like, they're doing things that shouldn't be done. This 80 year-old woman playing piano like that is one of those things.
