Wallahi abu bakr deserves to be the best friend and companion of the Messenger of Allah saw, even in jannah. Ameen. These are the best men that loves each other so much that it touches my heart. May Allah swt reunite Messenger of Allah and Abu bakr in the day of judgment and jannah forever.

Best man ever lived on the earth is prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
Closest person to prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is Abu bakr Sidiqe (Ra)

Hazrat Abu Bakr (R) is the most virtuous, righteous, irreproachable, upstanding, and preeminent man to walk the earth after prophets. You just can't compare anyone with Hazrat Abu Bakr (R), just like you cannot compare anyone with prophet Muhammad (S). Abu Bakr (R) is the most preeminent man after prophets, it's simple as that. I don't understand why some people compare other Sahabis (companions) with Abu Bakr (R). His eminence and superiority are not hidden from anyone. You can contrast between companions and ahle Al bait after Abu Bakr (R) but you cannot compare anyone to him. Period. He was Afzalul Bashar Ba'adaz Ambiya, he's Afzalul Bashar Ba'adaz Ambiya, and he'll always be Afzalul Bashar Ba'adaz Ambiya (Most preeminent man after prophets).

Amr b. al-As reported that Allah's Messenger (S) sent him in command of the army despatched to Dhat-as-Salasil. When 'Amr b. al-'As came back to the Prophet (S) he said:

Who amongst people are dearest to you? He said: Aisha (R). He then said: Who amongst men? He said: Her father (Abu Bakr R.A), and I said: And who next? He said: Umar (R). He then enumerated some other men.

Reference: Sahih Muslim, 2384.

Ibn Abu Mulaika reported:

I heard Aisha (R) as saying and she was asked as to whom Allah's Messenger (S) would have nominated as his successor if he had to nominate one at all. She said: Abu Bakr (R). It was said to her: Then whom after Abu Bakr? She said: Umar (R). It was said to her. Then whom after Umar? She said: Abu Ubaida b. al-Jarrah (R), and then she kept quiet at this.

Aisha (R) reported that Allah's Messenger (S) in his (last) illness asked me to call Abu Bakr (R), her father, and her brother too, so that he might write a document, for he feared that someone else might be desirous (of succeeding him) and that some claimant may say:

I have better claim to it, whereas Allah and the Faithful do not substantiate the claim of anyone but that of Abu Bakr (R).

It was narrated that Abdullah bin Salimah said:

“I heard 'Ali say: 'The best of people after the Messenger of Allah is Abu Bakr, and the best of people after Abu Bakr is 'Umar.”

Reference: Sunan Ibn Majah 106.

It was narrated from Ali (R) that he said:

The best of this ummah after it's prophet (S) is Abu Bakr (R), the best if it after Abu Bakr (R) is Umar (R), and if I wanted I could name the third one.

Reference: Musnad Ahmad 879.
