People are getting "cultural appropriation" and "cultural appreciation" mixed up/ don't know what they mean and it shows. Tbh seems like they're doing it on purpose just to justify them being mean asf.
ОтветитьNaw i think people coming after them are more cringe than their act. I think its cute, they've clearly put in a lot of effort into this. I'm just so suck of yt people getting offended for everyone the fuck else, when literally everyone I've come across who's acrually part of Japanese culture is a-ok with this.
ОтветитьHonestly the girls did pretty well. Aside from the weird mahjong theme that just does not translate at all in the west
ОтветитьWatching this now, I decided to go check on how the girls were doing and they decided to break up as a group because of the backlash
ОтветитьBerry-Chan was a friend of Tinkerbell at WDW back in the day. They were always very into anime, cosplay, and very energetic and full of emotion.
Ответить“When I say YEE you say HAW” I’m dying 😂😂😂😂
Ответить"When I say Yee you say haw" I've died
Ответитьso basically people got offended on behalf of japanese people and ruined these girls' lives? gotcha.
Ответитьi could not keep a straight face with Berry lord help me
ОтветитьForeign Idol groups are mostly underground, it's a whole ass rabbit hole. It exists because some Japanese dudes like hafus, whites and blacks and the 'idols' happen to be weebs.
ОтветитьI also agree that is ok for none Asian artist that want to promote in Korea or japan as long as they respect the culture and are fluent in the language then there is nothing wrong with that I don’t know why some people are so against it sometimes
ОтветитьIn the philippines we have this tv show contest, where foreign people sing and perform tagalog songs... With accent and everything! They're judged on how well they do it and how filipino they can manage to be. Its fun and not at all offensive! ---at least to me. You might want to check that out 😁 its called "I Love OPM"
ОтветитьLiterally they did nothing bad! I love their content as an Asian person who loves idols so it was so sad to see them getting doxxed and the backlash
ОтветитьI was thinking about this earlier today! It's such a coincidence to find this in my feed just NOW. They had so much potential, but the hate got to them.
ОтветитьWhy do i actually kind of love them? ❤️
ОтветитьWhen you said why do I want to do it I laughed so hard because I felt the same
ОтветитьWell tbh this isnt even surprising. Same thing happend with kaachi years ago as well, they still managed to get over the hate but i dont really know about them now or what they r doing.
Ответитьem "berry" sing
ОтветитьThe anime club story is so accurate lmao
ОтветитьGirl I'm just wondering why she's balding😭😭
ОтветитьSo people harass and dox innocent girls who haven’t done anything wrong, but can’t even manage to find and prosecute Junior Furuta’s killers? Awesome
ОтветитьI don't understand why someone learning a language is something to hate. I don't see her pronouncing words with Katakana pronunciation is cultural appropriation because she has genuinely learned the language and is still learning.
ОтветитьThe cringiest shuit ive ever seen
ОтветитьI think their call and responses are cute. Especially Berry-chan's. She does it whole heartedly and pulls in the audience with the energy she is giving.
I am not Japanese, but her pronounciation of berries sounds like how you spell English words in katakana.
ストロベリー (sutoroberii) 🍓
ブルーベリー (buruuberii)🫐
Ok but I don’t get it, with the introduction thing they did, isn’t that pretty much how most K-pop and Jpop idols do it? Mannerisms and all? Why are we mad at this?
ОтветитьWhy did she need to apologize for speaking Japanese? That's crazy. Their group is clearly based off of popular JPOP idol groups, it's hardly out of place for her to incorporate the language into her performance/character as well. I get that it's kinda cringey since she's not Japanese, but it's not offensive. Her Japanese pronunciation is pretty good, and it's not like she was speaking with a stereotypical Japanese accent when she spoke English. I mean, the way she pronounced strawberry and blueberry is literally how you're supposed to pronounce it in Japanese.
Ответитьcompletely unrelated, i just got an ad for elf-on-the-shelf(s) traveling the world while they're listening to Livin' La Vida Loca
ОтветитьI was cringing the whole time, but they do not deserve to be treated badly. They're not doing anything harmful, and they deserve better. She meant nothing harmful, and her story is actually really cute. I feel so bad for her. 😔
ОтветитьThe internet is so cruel
ОтветитьWait a fucking minute i volunteer at a maid cafe at a convention and like. We speak Japanese for greetings and we definitely arent all Japanese. And as someone whos Asian American i really dont think these girls deserved any of the shit they got they were literally just having fun
ОтветитьBrainless haters when people can appreciate other cultures and learn other languages: 👿👿👿
ОтветитьOversea idols are a growing community, I myself am wanting to partake.
Ответитьits sad what this world has come to lmao. I love their group, even as someone with no interest in idol groups. Not sure on the update on them, but they all seem very sweet and kind girls. There, from everything i have currently seen, is really nothing wrong with them. I personally am not asian, but ive asked around with friends who are and they actually found this video pretty entertaining, and seem to find the girls themself pretty sweet. They're appreciating a culture, not appropriating it. There is a vast difference.
Ответитьthey’re cute!!!
ОтветитьPLEASE THE MACDONALDS ADD AFTER THE POWER PUFFS GIRLS AND THEN “this”
ОтветитьI had a friend tell me she wanted to throw out all her extra stuff before moving instead of handing it out to our city’s massive homeless population cause she was afraid of being derogatory and coming off as condescending.
Someone being bullied for learning a new language and using that skill really reminds me of that.
People are afraid to do anything nice or cross cultural cause it’s attacked ruthlessly by people who have zero connection to any involved communities.
People are easily triggered these days and usually it's those that have no reason to be triggered that are the worst
Ответитьi took japanese lessons in college. they want you to say it in the way they would. mcdonalds goes makuudonohru or maku for short
ОтветитьI feel bad for them. They didn’t deserve to be doxxed. Yeah they were a little bit cringe but so am I! And so is everyone else at some point in their life
ОтветитьHonestly, there’s nothing wrong with what Berry did.
I’m Mexican, and sometimes, when talking about Mexican things in English, I just find it easier to pronounce said things with an American accent, rather than reverting back to my Mexican accent mid sentence for just a word
So I can see how it would’ve been awkward for Berry to switch back to an American accent
I also speak French, and they like to use a lot of English words, and in order to sound more fluent, I pronounce those words with a French accent
So I really don’t think Berry did it to mock Japanese people
They’re just bad lol
Ответитьnot even the point of the video but what was the before and what was the after in that girl group who got public plastic surgery??? I have to assume the bottom row was after, but they look so much better in the top row,,,,
ОтветитьTheir style of things isnt my kind of thing, but as long as theyre having fun who cares.
I wish them the best

She has a Japanese boyfriend, and is targeting the Jpop market. Then she speaks Japanese and acts (I can't remember the term for it, sorry), but, cute in a japanese way. What's the problem? I really don't get it. I'm white, have a Filipina wife, and frequent the Philippines. When westerners act cute just to get attention, or out of context, that's inappropriate. Speaking a non native language, acting like the local culture, acting like your spouse's culture, having context for your behavior, while it might come across as cringy to some, is absolutely not cultural appropriation. She might one day plan to move to Japan, because she marries someone from there. This happens a lot when someone discovers just how AWESOME another culture is as they get familiar with it through a spouse (ask me how I know). Acting like the local culture is how you blend in, especially if it's genuine, which it seemed like it was with her. If it's fake, or coming from a bad place in your heart, eat shit, but genuinely trying to adopt another culture as your own is NOT hurtful to anyone or deserving of hate. Now, are they talented? eeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. But don't hate people for acting like an adopted culture when it's genuine.
ОтветитьI’m sorry but THEY GOT DOXXED, HELLO? No one gonna talk abt that dark turn?🤨
