If I could be a VTuber, I would make educational videos about history, science... or I'd just make funny videos with a degenerate sense of humor like Lucy Pyre. Everytime I look up some VTuber clip, nothing is happening, it's just a boring anime girl playing some random game I couldn't give less F about... why would someone watch that ? I don't understand slice of life anime either.

Will admit though, some of their character designs are impressive... and I won't deny that I've downloaded suspicious material of Kizuna.

I have discussed this phenomena with this highly logical semi-weeb acquaintance of mine and we managed to identify our point of disagreement. What I identified as 'depraved & braindamaged' he identified as 'cute & wholesome'.

I find Vtubers to just be another hustle of the lonely and socially uncalibrated. Introverts get rekt here and taken for a ride like incels do paying for twitch thots/egirls.

Honestly, I don't like V-tubing when people just use it to be "haha anime girl", but I think it's a good tool for people who stream, and want to display their emotion and some representation of themself, without necessarily showing their face, should they have privacy concerns, or not like showing it or what-not.

Jaiden Animations uses it, for example.

It's not supposed to be complicated: they are like actors. Theather actors play a role. That said in theater and movies you try to emulate reality, but it's not really real either. it's also exaggerated and fake. This is similar.

For me the point of fiction is that the entertainment is FICTIONAL. I know it's not realistic as fuck and could be dumb or not.
People drop money on dumb pot plant streamers on twitch that do nothing but show their boobs, at least those Vtubers are engaging.

I too hate VTubers, even 2 years later. I get the appeal, but I don't like it. Neuro-sama, an AI VTuber, is appealing to me, but only because I'm interested in AI and tech in general.
