Great video in not good weather. Well done Dan👍
ОтветитьWhat you said at the end is what I was thinking during your review, half the cost of the hilleberg.
Ответитьsome great features for half the price of a akto. i always thought the abisko 1 lite had better features as well. the removable end poles are good as i like to stuff my tent into a roll top dry bag so its really small for carrying.cheers 👍
ОтветитьAnother cracking video buddy @CampLifeBushcraft 👏
Ответитьterrific video; thanks.
ОтветитьGreat looking tent, seems really versatile too with the different configurations. I have something similar, love the one pole tunnel design though mine is heavier. Do you still have this 3 years on?
ОтветитьHow is the Robens Chaser different from the Starlight?
ОтветитьLooks similar to my Quechua Quickhiker 2 which seems to be discontinued now. Mine is UV damaged now and I'm looking for the same style as it's been awesome in all parts of South America and when I see storms coming, the tent is up within 5 minutes and still dry on the inside, unlike most dome tents. I found mine in a canyon in Brazil so some hiker had a shock the night he lost it. Your tent looks like it goes quite saggy when it rains. Great review. You'll probably see it on my channel somewhere.
ОтветитьLooks a good one Dan, rain test perfection.
ОтветитьPerfectly timed video for me, was just looking into this tent earlier today. Was thinking of getting the two person for a spacious one man tent. Only thing I worry about is the all mesh interior and small vestibule, but you seem to have allayed some of those fears. Toss up now between Robens Chaser 2 and Terra Nova Pioneer 2.
ОтветитьGood video not in great Weather 👏👍
ОтветитьThat is a very good tent Dan, as I have seen you use in some of our trips. Your points are right on the mark. I like my Akto, fact, but if I'd seen the Chaser 1 before buying the Akto then I think the Chaser would be my choice for routine treks. Good video mate - what was all that rain about?! You kept going like a true committed reviewer! :) Cheers, Warren
ОтветитьAlways use all of the pegs provided. Otherwise the tent won’t retain its wind resistance rating.
ОтветитьFiddly to set up, too many daft little bits of string and awkward bits and the 200kph wind limit is just plain dreaming they're pretty flimsy. I don't own or particularly like hillebergs but they shit on these tents lol
ОтветитьI just brought the Chaser 2, only pitched it once but looks
Like it will be a great tent for harsh conditions.
Porch looks too small for safely cooking and storing. Hopefully other manufacturers will double toggle the outer doors! How high are the end walls?
ОтветитьHave you considered fjallraven abisko lite 1? They r now cheaper than used be. 500.
ОтветитьHey man great video.I enjoyed coasteering today did you ?
ОтветитьNever work with chlidren, animals or the Great British weather!
ОтветитьGreat viddy mate especially with all that rain !!! It’s a cracking tent and I think people need to look outside the box with choices now there are so many good tents out there that are not run of the mill
Just got in the Sprinter 2 which is awesome and has similar setup features
Nice one much appreciated and glad you love it
Cheers

Nice tent for the money. Unfortunate on your choice of day to demo
ОтветитьKilograms not kilo, just like kilometres not kilos.
ОтветитьRobens brilliant make , I have the starlight 1 had it few years , all weather's all seasons solid tent . I've been looking at treating myself .
ОтветитьGreat effort in the rain :)
ОтветитьI had a Robens Chaser 2 that failed on me in moderate wind only around 300m elevation. I bought it for the wind speed test claims on Robens website (claims the chaser withstands 200kph winds) and was understandably disappointed when the tent failed in wind that wasn't strong enough to knock me off balance as I bailed my camp.
End result was a bent pole and snapped guy line. Long story short I did get a refund but in an email exchange with Robens they said "using the tent in strong winds will void the warranty". Sad to see they don't stand by their boastful wind speed claims. I won't be buying any of their stuff in the future based on their response.
This tent has the same flaw for me as the Telemark 2. My feet and my head while on pad and in a sleeping bag, will be touching walls an condensation is getting my sleeping bag wet. I think this is a great tent for people who are no taller than 173cm. *I'm 180cm.
ОтветитьAkto is a proper 4 season tent. You are suposed to compare it with Enan which is lighter version. Hilleberg sells bulletproof coated tents, warranty and costumer service., Robbens is far away off being half off akto. That vent solution is very bad on Robens. Smaller size vestibule is a big downgrade for many. There is also resell value of a Hilleberg. Now Robens is a good tent that is not worth its on price realy, because it is priced close to fjällräven abisko lite which is another proper 4 season tent with more advanced materials.
ОтветитьSuch a good review and it gives a true insight! I have a Nordisk Otra 2 tent, but I need a lighter duty one and this Robens Mountain Tent caught my attention. Thanks again for taking your time in the rain and show the Robens tent in details.
ОтветитьI've bought the Sprinter 2 from the same range mostly for 3 season camping and I was a bit concerned about the mesh inner. You've reassured me as you've managed ok even in winter. The quality has blown me away. I paid about £250 which is crazy cheap for such a good tent and it's definitely not that far off quality wise than some of these mega top end tents. Great vid, cheers.
ОтветитьGreat review. Thank you. Does it get a lot of wind inside under the flysheet? The flysheet seems to be quite high of the ground.
