Otis was great, no doubt but he didn't "blow away every other band." Remember Jimi Hendrix and the Who's performance?!?!
ОтветитьMarty Ballin was one of the greatest singers of his generation.... I didn't appreciate him till I was in my forties..... he really was a great a😊 singer
ОтветитьMonterey for the rich youngsters. Woodstock for the masses. Great documentary!
Ответитьกูก็หวังอย่างนั้นแหละอีอ้อยกูอยากจะให้มึงอีกสักครั้ง
Ответить6 minutes into this video I heard one of the stupidest things I've ever heard from a favorite artist of mine whose name I will not mention that LA had sold out well I don't know who the hell you hung out with in LA but I was a hippie in LA and all the hippies I knew sure as hell didn't sell out to s*** I spent the year of 69 in San Francisco had an amazing wonderful time with the white collar workers the blue collar workers the hippies and the cops and I couldn't distinguish the difference between hippies and LA, San Francisco or anywhere else in this wonderful place in that wonderful time across this whole goddamn USA!!! ОтветитьMichelle Phillips was soooooh beautiful THEN and still is NOW!!
Ответить✌❤
ОтветитьThese were the times when America was at its best - the acknowledged popular culture leader of the world. The music, the movies, the poets and the authors, the peaceniks, even the politicians, and everybody was young and slim and good looking and hopeful. The world revolved around America. It will never be like that again.
Ответить65 year old here i lived through all these jams still freaking am daily rock will never die!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьIs it just me, or does everyone wish they had been Cass's friend?

ОтветитьSONY Sounds & Music
Ответить...also when midern culture began to go down the toilet.
ОтветитьIf the woman on this title card sees this. You are beautiful.
Best times ,right here...
Music festivals benefit record label producers and some performers, if they survive and sell alot of records. The End.
ОтветитьThe girl @ 11m33... She ll be around 70 now.... but i'd still marry her... :)
ОтветитьIt’s really too bad that big brother and the holding company had to break up. Those two guitars were awesome. Also felt like the who knocked out of the park. One of the great British super groups.
ОтветитьIt was the best ever, there will never be none like
ОтветитьHad the poster and others on my wall at the time. It wasn’t in Texas…The kids of today never did know the peace and love movement or even the Jesus movement or how people of all cultures came together. Sadly, they have never known this. People could actually disagree and still be friends. We lost JFK, Bobby K, MLK etc….We very much wanted the peace and love . So many had lost people in Vietnam, personally in our lives. It was all happening at the same time.
ОтветитьI recognize Janice had tons of talent.,but I'm more of a Grace Slick fan.
ОтветитьConspiracy theory has it that the CIA infiltrated the music scene during this time, which was after and perhaps part of COINTELPRO, Operation CHAOS, and Project MKUltra which was being used to study miind control. It wasn't the musicians involved but rather the drug dealers.
ОтветитьGood Lord, Michelle Phillips was gorgeous!
ОтветитьI was born in '64, my music was late 70's/early 80's. Seems it was very NOT what this is. I never liked the hippie culture growing up, didn't like the music much, either. I was almost anti-hippies. That being said, I've always found the hippies and the counterculture very interesting. As I've gotten older, I've started to understand the hippies a bit. There are still things about this generation that are a total turn off, but I've started to get some of the reasons for what drove the hippy generation.
ОтветитьThis wasn't 40 years ago. More like nearly 60 years ago.
What a great time to live in it was. The late 60's up to late 80's was when some of the best music and musicians known today were made.
I was four years old. Would have loved to have seen Janice Joplin.
ОтветитьNobody was wanting to ban guns when the government went in and shot up a bunch of peacefull protesters at Kent state fact you rarely ever hear of it
ОтветитьYAY! Drugs!
Ответитьwe in the UK were massive fans of Otis from 66 onwards btw i am pissed (UK Meaning lol )

Ответитьi was 16 living in the UK but wished i'd have been there. just an aside my late wife was the spit of Michelle Philips so at least i got a result lol
ОтветитьHere is My Monterey Pop story:
For high school graduation me and my bud Carl got to go to the Monterey Pop Festival. So we get there and get our hotel room and we're walking around the grounds looking at all the booths and stuff and all of a sudden I hear this killer guitar playing coming out of a little room that they had setup to demonstrate musical equipment. I said "Carl listen to that! we need to check that out." So we go up to the door and open up the door and walk in and there's this black guy sitting on a stool trying out a Guild guitar but he is playing it backwards, (left handed) and all the sudden he just stops playing and started just looking at the guitar. So to try to get him to play some more I said "Hey Man that sounded really good!" He looked up and said "Yeah thanks man"..and then just put the Guild down and walked off. Well Sunday night after watching The Who tear it up, the announcer says " and now the Jimi Hendrix Experience" and out comes the black guy that we had seen sitting on the stool. I was about 60 ft in front of the stage directly in front of Jimi I got to watch the whole show and He was incredible. I did find myself in the Monterey Film out in front of The stage where I remembered. It was cool.
I just discovered this festival and i got to say this is much more fun than Woodstock ! This festival was truly wild!
ОтветитьTotally get Michelle Phillips i feel that from GD tour in the 80s and 90s and era over never to happen again. Look at us now ffs😢
ОтветитьIn 1992 I traveled by motorcycle from NY (Buffalo) - to San Diego (went to NYC and Atlantic city to go from coast to coast) - Naturally I spent some day at SF and passed at Monterey. I was too young in 68, but if I ever learn to travel in time, it is one time and place I will visit.
ОтветитьI desagree, M&P were GREAT as much as Hendrix, Janis, Jefferson or Who. It is MUSIC HISTORY, too bad today the media is such a shit!
ОтветитьIf you have a time machine, then I want to talk to you.
ОтветитьTo many of us, the most electrifying performance was RAVI SHANKAR........ the audience thought so too....
ОтветитьTHE STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL GOD GIFTED MICHELLE PHILLIPS I WILL NEVER FORGET THE POP BABE OF THE 60S ❤❤❤
ОтветитьApología de las drogas
ОтветитьTo me the most amazing stats were: NO arrests, NO overdoses and NO deaths
ОтветитьSo was I. What happened to all those promises? Has anyone seen peace and love lately?
Ответить"Owsley" was the best acid I've had, also the first in '67. Was 1/4 inch square of thin purple blue blotting paper neatly wrapped in aluminium foil, was a full on trip and highly hallucinogenic. Mind blowing and beautiful luckily. Even dinner later watching the food walking around the plate giggling in tune at a mates parents wasn't a freak out and just interesting ... but not edible. 🤩😆
ОтветитьI always heard about this festival from an old neighbor who attended this and he said The Who and Hendrix stole the show like it was "candy from a baby" He said rock literally changed overnight after they played. I had no idea they were back-to-back in the bill
ОтветитьThis is longer ago than 40 years. Very cool thought!
ОтветитьIm sure alot of people feel for one reaaon or another, boy i was just born to late my reason just the music, the shift, that feeling. You never realize when your living in a moment is boy this is gonna be impactful. I sure would have loved to have seen Otis! As time goes by we are losing these heros, these great great people that we have never known that made such a impact on our lives. Long live Rock N Roll
ОтветитьI was born in oct of 67 so my destiny was to become a 80s child
Ответитьthe thumbnail pic looks like Tulsi..what the what
