X-Plane is old and Microsoft is shiny and new? The Microsoft Flight Simulator started as the Sub-Logic Flight Simulator in the 1980s on the Commodore 64. Microsoft bought it and updated it over the years. IT'S ALMOST 50 YEARS OLD. X-Plane is the new kid.

Xplane is for real flying msfs is always just visualy beautiful but it’s unrealistic as a pilot I know and I’ve been around since the first game and fly 2k and fly2 k was identical to xplane. Planes drift in real life only xplane and fly2k do that not Microsoft so much unless u set it up that way and with coordinates turns in real life and xplane is the real deal Microsoft not so much. Been flying simulators since 1990 👍

Wish I watched this before I bought MSFS! But I knew about it before I knew XPlane and they did such good marketing for their product that I bought it. No complaints so far, but I still prefer realism over fun!

Hey Stefan, as someone who is considering starting to journey to become a pilot, some 2 years on since this video was released and after the world has regained some sense of normality after catching a touch of the flu and shutting down the global economy for no real reason, has there been any significant improvements to either these SIM's and if so, could you do an update video, or even just a quick message if not?! Newbie to the channel, and loving the content too..

This video was obviously done before the Working Title versions of the Garmin G1000 and GNS 530/430 in MSFS. I would love to see this video redone today, with X-Plane 12 and MSFS 40th Anniversary.

Fms 2020 is just fuck game is not real fligth simulatoe all aircraft fms 2020 all controller don't work end Bolton knobs etc end also in VR is so terrible even fms 2020 beta12 bla bla .Xplane 12 end Aerofly fs4 is my fligth simulator.for sure

I'm a x-plane fan myself.

Xplane 11 is for real pilots, MFS 2020 is more for amateur sim pilots that would never fly real plane.
Laminar's flying model is miles away from mfs 2020,aicraft systems are almost 100% real,while in mfs2020 not even close.
Only thing that mfs 2020 doing better are visuals,but Xplane 11 can be upgraded with tons of realistic scenery,free and paid that would make it even more realistic.
And dont forget Xplane is not a game,it's a software for building and testing aircrafts which is only made for general public use.
I would always choose Xplane over MFS 2020,because i like how things fly much more then few eye candy visuals.

Hi Stefan. I know this is 2 years old and I haven't watched it all the way through.
Just a couple of things that don't seem to make sense to me.
1 - Ok, MSFS is "better" for emergency practice you say. Because it shows you more realistic landscapes, which is good as it gives you a better picture of what is going on outside the plane, so when it really happens your mental picture is already there.
2 - The around the world flight is better with XP because the model/s are better for fuel. Yeah, ok. But if you are flying "in the middle of nowhere" it is easy to get lost. MSFS's model with real world pictures would help mitigate this problem as you said in point 1.
So I'm not sure I fully get what you mean. If you are flying "locally" and want to practice engine failure: it doesn't matter WHERE you are or what is outside. The modeling of the plane would be more important - wouldn't it?
You are going to have to land "somewhere" and be it that is a correctly represented model of the real world or (via XP) a correct model of the plane's handling: I know which I would pick.
I'm not having a go at you for what you said, it just seems odd.

I hope MSFS takes the "Simulator" path and lose the damn "Game" label. That would be amazing and increase the seriousity and the potential of the sim. I guess it depends to whos hands it will fall. As for now, I think Laminar Research and Lockheed Martin win for the Simulator card. :)

Xplane is garbage. It has a horrible map for nativation. I’m not a real pilot, I just want to see the world. I don’t care for realism.

As a non-pilot who understands some basic terms, my summary of this would be- if the inside of the plane is more important to you, XPlane is the way to go. If outside the plane is more important to you, MFS is the way to go.

Been around since FS started so.. lol just read comments. The diehard X-plane fans will always paint MS as just a game as one said eye candy. Which we all know its so much more. It can be hard hearing the truth other then a fan boy video. The ones that make it hard to choose..well they own almost everyone out there. They love to fly that's what matters. Had X-plane since the start so...
