Next, to keep channel clear. Get forty feet of six inch perforated Corrigated flexible drainage pipe. Place 2/3 of pipe upstream and 1/3 down stream of the dam inside the area that was excavated. Clamp down the upstream portion into the lake (stream) bed.

Do you warn people down stream?
Not criticising just wondering. Also again not a criticism because in Australia we have no dam building beaver. However having said that I’ve been brainwashed into thinking having large amounts of water is a good thing in Oz where water can be an issue (when it’s not 30foot above your head a washing your house away) we tend to think this accumulation of water is good. Is there a criteria for knocking the dam down or are the beaver (🦫 ) just a pest.
Again I strenuously ask as a question not a criticism and no I’m not a vegan.

In the middle of wilderness parks in Ontario are some massive dams, they are great at limiting forest fires. In agricultural areas, no thank you.

How do beaver dams help the environment?
Environmental Benefits of Beavers - King County
Beaver dams are like speed bumps in the streams and help slow down the water as it moves through a system. Slower water means less erosion and in some cases less flooding from storms. Ponds also absorb some of the water even if they already appear full, so the volume of water also decreases through a beaver system.A

I have breached many a dam i dont understand your theory. why no breach it as far away as you can as the water level drops use the closest material to you and build support for the machine. that way it is then possible to remove all the dam dam from 1 side.??????

Does anyone actually understand the ecological impacts and the future economic impacts of destroying beaver dams? Just sad to see this kind of ecological destruction for a few feet of land , which that water being held back was actually supplying the surrounding ecosystem, including trees, bugs, bats, ungulates, amphibians, fish, and countless insect species. Terrible!

I have a friend in northern WISCONSIN that owns property that contains a creek. Within a month of these little guys building a dam, they killed hundreds of pine trees because the water rose in the spring over the banks and did them in. A couple of years later, the once beautiful landscape is now nothing but grass with dead or dying tree trunks.

Why would you do that? You could easily have a slow release but you open it up fully, causing a flood downstream. Absolutely clueless.

Water holding capacity shortened, wetland habitat dewatered, nutrient absorption in Riparian zone lessened, runoff escalated, and well other ecological drivers for longer term water retention, primary growth, woody material added to the watershed, well those do produce inherent ecological diversity created by beavers.

The UK loonies reintroduced beavers in certain parts our countyside? A few year's ago it turned out to be disaster!! With flooding, Felling young growing trees, But most of all there dam's prevent returning fish to spoin? Which in turn upsets professional fisherman, Who in turn look elsewhere to fish, And taking money out the local economy!! This experiment is a total waste of taxpayers money!!🤔😂🤣
