Breakups suck. Even breakups between two good humans suck. Alanis gave us a great outlet for all those nasty feelings we feel when we leave a relationship.

Artists use their art as a form of self therapy and it makes you go to the worst version of what happened. It seems from his reaction and her still being willing to talk to him the songs that are about him on that record where embelishments. Yes there was pain to work through, but the thought that Alanis thinks of him as some evil guy I think should have been squashed a while ago.

It’s not about him or anyone in particular. She has stated that in an interview … can’t recall who interviewed her but I think Pink was in the show too. No just looked it up it was Julia Styles, but also she has said it on Howard Stern show.

I honestly think she was caught up in the Taylor Swift of the mid 90s. It was a trope of angry female rock and the singer/songwriter title was SO MARKETABLE......Alanis, Fiona, Brooke, Poe...and when these women wrote about things OTHER THAN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS, and the evil men that scorned them...they were basically knocked off the charts.

I don't think either of them ever had animosity towards each other in the way the song was manufactured to have us believe.

Good on Dave. Classy response. The world could use a lot more of this right now.
