Kubal is the original food of the Bruneian Malays, especially in Sabah, I am not sure if this kubal is also a favorite and known food by other tribes in Sabah.

If the cooking process is done more perfectly so that it is crisp enough the kubal can last for more than 1 month, it is always brought as a food supply by fishermen looking for fish or looking for small shrimp called 'geragau' or known as bubuk among local fishermen, the kubal is also brought as a food supply into the forest by fishermen when they are looking for wood that will be used as material to make their boats.

Fishermen in the past only depended on wind energy as a way to move their boats, the power obtained from the wind using the sail screen would take their boats to their destination by using a piece of cloth or a type of mat made of pandan leaves that grow a lot around the village and bush.

Usually the fishermen already know where is the right place for them to find fish. The fishermen were only guided by the stars in the sky if they sailed at night because in those days there was no compass and map that could be used as a guide
