A Feeling of a Lump in the Throat (GLOBUS) - Part 1

I have chronic fatigue syndrome since 2021 and it all started with a flu and this was the very first symptom. This lump feeling in my throat for months. I dont know what it was

This made me feel scared not reassured. Sorry I watched!!

I first started experiencing this back in 2022 and it would gradually come and go on its own. It isn't really painful and i find relief when i eat or swallow but then some days it becomes really annoying because it strains and tightens my throat muscles for hours per day and sometimes i get muscle fatigue in parts of my jaw, neck and face. I got a headache from the muscle strain on one particular day and it had me worried. I must admit that I'm a daily smoker but I've quit for 2 weeks to try relieve the sensation and it has not. I've been doing some micro research and the general rule is that this takes a long time to resolve. Weeks to months to years. Everything you describing is exactly what I'm going through. Sigh some days i feel depressed and miserable because of the sensation

I feel pressure on my neck and when I bend my neck down I feel blacking out. What is wrong with me?

I have hiatus hernia and got these symptoms i have been taking esomeprszol for years any idea what I can do ? P.s i have severe anxiety

Does that lump cause bad breath? I feel when I swallow I taste something bad in my throat.

This happens when I eat rice or sushi sometimes. It’s like pressure building up by my sternum area and water doesn’t help so have to wait it out. Pleas help.

Can these lumps be cancerous?

Is it possible to have more than one type of globus? Because I have both the globus that feels like mucus is constantly stuck in the back of my throat, however I also have the sensation like. I have a piece of throat plaque stuck in the back of my throat just behind my tonsils.

I kept going back to 2 of my doctors they said I am being anxious. Now I had to have my thyroid taken out because it was cancer. ,’missed’ Right 🙄 for years! Pet scan shows it

Thank you for an amazing video. I've been having the "lobus" in my throat for some months now. Went to do an endoscopy in Mexico, surgeon said my heartburn and indigestion were mainly associated with stress. Put me on esomeprazole and some anti-acid, been on it for a month and I barely see any improvement.

I started with a feeling of having a lump in my throat and food going down slow gp saud my throat looked fine nothing to worry about
I’m 4 wells of having this and it’s got worse
My glands came up behind my ears and I had face swelling and also my top lip
The gp visit was very disappointing
He couldn’t really see the swelling but I could feel it, I know my own face
The glands were up and one was sore
Iv been having a sensation of tingling to under m eyes and head
Also abit of Basel drip and I have mucus because I have severe emphysema and bronchiectasis
I thinking it may be possible that I hav become allergic to my inhaler ?
My throat isn sore nut I feel pressure in my ears and had a slight buzzing
When I cought it hurts my head and my left eye feels cold
I also have acid reflux and take lanzoprazole every day
To me it’s like I’m allergic to something but the doctor doesn’t seem to know it is and tells me to see how it goes
It’s also affecting my breathing
Could this be serious
Because it’s not very nice

In my experience do nothing it will go away on it’s on it’s perfectly normal

The solution for me was to treat Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)

I am struggling with this feeling.
I’m already taking tablets for anxiety because it is driving me crazy.
I’ve been checked by an ENT specialist and they put a camera into my nose and found a white thing in my throat and said that was caused by acid reflux.
They said to take Gaviscon Advance after meal and before bed (as you mentioned as well). I started this “treatment” on 15/12/2024.
Let’s give it time and I’ll be back here, hopefully with good news 🙏🏻

I have two small children, and last week, I was just cooking dinner, then struggled to breath and couldn't speak at all it subsided after a new minute's but my Rodney's it was terrifying.

Thanks for putting my mind a lot at ease whilst I wait for my GP surgery to "grant" me an appointment.
Risotto has always been 50/50 risk for me (runs a bit in family) - unable to swallow or breathe then panic, sometimes a vomit - takes extremely small, constant sips of water with head kinda inclined sideways over a sink for a minute or two, to sort - a large mouthful of water is always a disaster.

What a helpful and well-explained video. My GP has been trying to fob me off with my ongoing concerns about my ENT symptoms, inexplicable weight loss and long-term lethargy/fatigue. So much so that I went for a private ENT consultation, as I had convinced myself that (based on my age, lifestyle and symptoms) I might well have developed throat cancer. NHS waiting times for ENT consultant appointments are not even published in my local health authority so, given my state of anxiety & stress, I decided to pay £150 to be seen privately within a week. Fortunately, the consultant was very quick to rule out throat cancer based on my symptoms and, after an examination and a nasal endoscopy, he confirmed his diagnosis of rhinitis, globus & LPR. Also, my left nostril appears to have been significantly blocked by cartilage for many years, which has pretty much prevented comfortable nose-breathing for the past few years. Now that I have been diagnosed (and thanks to this video) I've been able to properly understand the globus/LPR diagnosis and understand why I've been recommended to take Gaviscon Advance / PPIs. I'll also be taking Dymista steroid nasal spray which contains fluticasone (to reduce nasal polyp swelling and irritation inside the nose). On top of that I'll be trying a nasal rinse (either a Sinus Rinse product or a home-prepared salt & baking soda wash) to clean the nose of possible allergens (if proven by my upcoming Ig E blood test for specific pet antigen). It was such a relief to see this video as it completely mirrored and explained my recent symptoms. Hopefully my planned treatments will help to resolve things and allow me to get a good night's sleep, prevent my constantly dripping nose & throat clearing, and soothe my hoarse voice and uncomfortable throat symptoms. I'm in the US and Amazon has Gaviscon Advance. I've been taking Famotidine prior to a Barrium Swallow and then an Endoscopy. I'll see if my GI doctor agrees it's ok to take the Gaviscon. I sure hope it works. THANKS

I keep having food sticking it's like my swallowing and muscles don't talk anymore outvof sync...

I had globus...it felt like I had something in my throat and like I was being choked to death. The only way I could get relief was by swallowing. I kept a piece of hard candy in my mouth which forced me to swallow constantly. I finally sought help and was treated for silent reflux. It took about 12 weeks to go away. I was so thankful b/c I'd been really miserable.

I feel like this on only right side of throat while writing this I am crying I am scared also when I swallow saliva I feel like bones moving in throat 😭😭 does anyone know what this can be?

Ugh I’m a recovering bulimic, I also had Covid late last year and there’s this weird sound when I cough out , like a flapping. Only when I cough out . I relapsed several times since having Covid and now am stopping for good. I’m so scared to go have it checked

Do this can cause food goes into lungs?

Do they get triggered by Smoking and drinking?
Also I have white spots in my pharynx too.. what is that?
