I keep to riding on the canal towpath with my mountain bike. There's no black traffic fumes or dodgy drivers too, it's better for my breathing.
ОтветитьAm fat too but im 9
ОтветитьNot that really fat
ОтветитьIs there a weight limit for road bike? Im worry if im too heavy for road bike. As the max load is 100kg

ОтветитьSir, this is absolutely beautiful.
You are absolutely fantastic
This is SO awesome and inspirational. Well done!
ОтветитьI don't need inspiration
ОтветитьI need information
ОтветитьI use an eBike, so I can keep the intensity at always ideal levels regardless of my weight, or the steepness of the climbs, or having to care about aerodynamics.
ОтветитьDo wr need to have large saddle for fatty buttocks. I feel heat and pressure in groin area during cycling making uncomfortable, please suggest how to avoid
ОтветитьI'm having a terrible time finding a bike that will be ok for me.
I'm a recovering Agoraphobe and after just over 7 years shut-in I am now 450lbs.
I really want to cycle but there doesn't seem to be any bikes out there for someone my size.
Really hope someone can help because I am finding it hard enough finally going outside, last thing I would want us to get up on a bike and it collapse in public!
This is such a great video.
Hope I can be like this one day.
Certainly not too fat to ride a bike, however check the cycle makers specifications for maximum recommended load of the bicycle, lightweights such as yours may be as low as 100kgs of rider weight.
Do you have issues with failing wheels and rims? Especially the rear wheel, the rear wheels with 10 or greater sprockets incorporate a great deal of offset and dishing in the spoke pattern, potentially making the wheel more failure prone. If you are heavy , choose to ride on high-quality wheels
My employer held a health and safety day-course for all employees, a nutritionist gave one of the lectures, the nutritionist was very scathing as to the medical profession attaching so much importance to BMI, some people are meant to be big while being healthy, Individual health requires interpretation, not generalisation
ОтветитьThankyou so much for this! I want to get back into riding but felt self conscious of my size and how I would look
ОтветитьBRO WHY WON'T MY MOM BUY ME A BIKE WITH NARROW TIRES WHEN HE IS DOING IT
ОтветитьBeen subscribed since this came out. Had a bit of a mental wobble today (body appearance) and nearly sacked off my ride. After watching this again, feeling much better. It's for me that I'm doing it. Anyway, off I go. Thanks again man!
ОтветитьReally good advice
Thank you…
Very inspiring. Thank you
ОтветитьI was 315lbs and 5'5. After a year of cycling. I am now 240lbs. I just removed junk food, sodas and sugary juices..

ОтветитьBros just like me fr
ОтветитьThank you so much you are very inspirational.
ОтветитьHeck, I need to lose like 30lb and I have a heavy old cheap road bike. I figure that since I’m not racing anyone, any added weight or drag means I get a better workout. 😂 I think you’re right - I was visiting a National park here in Utah, USA a few years ago, and it’s at about 10,000ft of elevation. I saw some guy in the full summer sun riding his bike up the very long and winding road to the park, and he was about 3/4 of the way up. He was pretty heavy set, and I was totally inspired that he was smiling and enjoying the ride in the magnificent surroundings, even though I’m sure it was a brutal slog.
ОтветитьTutus and tights. Well there are limits on all of that kind of thing isn't there? I'd rather not have my arse being the most comfortable on a long ride, or not do a long ride rather than wear that shite. I'll wear up to the padded shorts, but not the tights. That is kind of the rub for me. Also, if a guy had the mentality to workout, then he should never be in the position to have to be the totally overweight guy who means to workout. I mean to say that normally there would be self-correction before such an exaggeration point, right. I guess some guys have it so good with such terrific and traditionally acting wives that they just eat too well for too long and there's no option but to be fat from it. Funny, I envy those guys, but I don't want to be like that either. Maybe it's just that women instinctively want a man to be soft. Or possibly that they associate a fat guy with a well cared for guy, or a well-to-do guy. Who knows what goes on in the female mind?
ОтветитьI guess I'll come back and add something else on this one. Lycra and Spandex. The tights. You can have sweats of a kind. What might be called cycling pants. Still get in what you need to do, maybe not have the most comforted arse in the world, but still avoid looking like a male ballet dancer when you ride. Women look fine in them. Men look like twits in them. Double standard. But that's the way it is, like Walter Cronkite said.
ОтветитьNice post. Is being overweight an issue rim endurance with tyre and rim or what do you do to fix this on a racer so the bikes rim and tyre is all safe. ???
ОтветитьGood on you mate. I'm sure your health will improve as weight drops off. Your very encouraging. Good luck.
ОтветитьOne thing I'll say about being big, yes the climbs are an absolute beach but boy are the downhills fun.
ОтветитьA very weight loss centric video. Ride a bike just because it's fun
ОтветитьI really like your videos, what is the weakest part of the bicycle in your opinion?
ОтветитьWorth a watch!!! Having gained a few KG’s whilst waiting for a hip replacement, and now having had that operation I’m looking for ways / information to help with removing the weight!
ОтветитьI admire your candor.
I decided to buy a bike this month - finally. I weigh just over 260 lb.; I love cycling; I am researching what decent (& inexpensive) bikes work for everyday use. in 2020, my job of 6 years ended, the pandemic started; being near-broke that year I lost probably 40+ lbs. Can be done! -not easy.
My age and build are very similar to Leonard. When I began riding, kids yelled, "Hey, Fat Albert!" at me; I laughed, for there's no dispute that I'm fat. Biking has slimmed me down, though, even as the scale itself hasn't moved much. I think at a certain age, physiology precludes the ability to lose weight, no matter how much we exercise or how well we eat: I'm eating healthier than I've ever eaten in my life, virtually vegan, and it barely moves the scale at all. I think only ectomorphs are truly able to "slim down," in contrast to mesomorph builds like Leonard's and my own. Fat? Ride anyway.
ОтветитьI am 315lbs, 45 years old and I used to feel super embarrassed ridding my bike. After doing it for several months now, I don't care what people think about me anymore.
Ответитьjoin the club... I'm in the same boat at the minute... but there is a weight limit to the carbon bikes and regular wheels, regular rims is down to the number of spokes I think, I'm currently 30Lb over the limit for my wheels and 10lb over the limit for my frame sitting at 237Lb, I was 190Lb when I picked up my bike in 2021
ОтветитьMy bike is rated to support rides up to 130 kilos, after a knee injury, surgery and recovery. I am a stone over 130, so I cannot even safely ride my bike anymore.
