What do we all think about the current sweeping up of content creators and animators of the 40k Universe?

Is this from the same creator of the original Astartes? Arent they working now for Games Worshop?

At the heart of the idea of WH40k as a hobby is that fans can enjoy it through expression of their own creativitiy within the universe.

Painting the minis in your own style. Building your own terrain. Making up house rules. Inventing own scenarios. Writing your own stories. And sharing all of that with other fans to have a good time. THAT is what made 40k the sucess it is.

Nowadays it seems to be less and less about your own creativity and about just consuming what you're allowed and offered by GW. I understand them protecting their IP and i understand that the lines between fan-made content and stealing an IP to make money becomes blurry in an age where fan-made content can reach millions of people.

But they treat it like they lose money through the success of something like Astartes. When really.. they would've never had these views to begin with as they have no videos that can compete with that. They got free publicity of amazing quality for their IP.

GW killed the Warhammer!

We need to stop game Workshop from doing this buying out people ruining Warhammer 40K fan animation films

Those three orks that ganged up on that space marine, I really wanted to see them torn to shreds by that space marines' comrades.

on one hand, Im saddened i dont think we will ever see this and that Gee Dubz ate up content creators or fucking threatened to sue them(which pisses me off the most) and forced many to stop making animations altogether. however I am happy we got something like Iron Within, but frankly its just not enough. hopefully we will have more like that on the way, preferably a feature length movie that is the quality of iron within, but that seems a ways away. As it is right now, warhammer TV is a complete fucking joke without even one feature length animation. They only have 2 shows, and their quality is atrocious, and they are all soooo damned short. They have to pad out their library with FUCKING TRAILERS.... its pathetic really. Gee dubs just killed soo much valuable entertainment that was drawing soooo much attention to 40k. like Astarte's was the best fucking 40k advertisement in existence...... fucking moronic Gee Dubz; they dont just shoot themselves in the foot, they fucking melta blast off their own legs at every chance they can get.

I'm still half convinced they're never releasing Astartes 2 and have relegated Syama Pedersen to making their animated product ads.

I luckily have the Original entire series downloaded to Google Drive. GW literally rescored and recoloured Astartes after acquiring it JUST to put their own mark on it and pretend it was theirs. There is no way we will ever get his original vision. The 'old guard' inside GW will think they know better simply for being at the company longer and will assert over him.

I think it will work out. Their means of acquiring talent are rather aggressive and use of IP claims pretty off putting. But if they actually let their golden gooses flourish instead of squander them for once it could produce great results.

It is their greatest crime against their fan base and against their own business that they took Syama away from us, Astartes will never be as good as it would have been if they only supported him, we will not see it again for a generation at least, not with their overwatch sniping every creator that catches their eye. I'd love to be wrong, I hope I'm wrong but I'm only being realistic.

Syama, I hope you read this: your work is amazing.

thanks to GW's amazing vision and greed we now know the dude has been buried and we'll likely never see warhammer be mainstream or modernized because a bunch of soyboy neckbeards have to gatekeep dumb lore and merch

I'm so bummed that Games Workshop messed with Syama Pedersen. The whole 40K universe needs modernization that his vision brings. Haven't seen one good animation, game trailer, episodic since they put him on payroll. Unless he's been given free rain and support to continue working on Astartes 2, but it's been 3 years.

He probably has a bunch of editors/project managers over his head atm all telling him exactly how they want him to portray their product, micromanaging his every frame of animation as well as the story to best suit the products they wanna sell. Corporate greed at its finest, destroying something that could have been so beautiful and immersive.
