What Is WRONG With DayZ's LIVONIA Map Vs Chernarus? (ahead of upcoming Dev updates).

This video 100% hit the nail on the head and is exactly the reason I try to play chernarus as much as I can (when server is High population)

You are 100% right Paul. The excellent thing about DayZ though is there is something for everyone. Me personally I like Chernarus, can’t beat the character development and it seems like I always have somewhere I want to go to get something. Livonia is my go-to when Chernarus has low players. Other than that takistan, Esseker, Namalsk, etc. Not into much.

I always love watching your streams but especially when you play Chernarus as I get nostalgic over the old adventures you would go on and the friends that were made.

I feel like we need maps that aren’t just squares and with more uniqueness to them for example getting a map based off perhaps Vietnam with islands off the coast and deep jungles inland with hidden military’s it would give players something new to work with

I spawned in some small town I got shot immediately and that was it I didn't go back to Livonia for quite some time

I always spawn southwest corner and wherever I move it’s always looted

The map just feels too small like they need to make it harder to get from one side to the other

Sure chernarus has more towns but that just means potential to never see other players. Ive ran into more players on Livonia and I've played it for less than a fourth of the time I've played console DayZ.. the problem is the players mostly want to stay in the spawn areas for pvp anyway. There needs to be a better reason than just loot to draw people away from the spawn.. I think I heard something about traders coming into official?

Cheranus makes sense even to the freshest freshie. Start on shore and move inland. We've been doing that for hundreds to thousands of years.

While in Livonia I would end up in the forever fields 75% of the time granted this was before I was familiar with iZurvive.

All they need to do is divide the forest. As you said, rsmove that shitty tosn on the bottom right, make it an airfield or a huge base. And the left side is the PVE. With a lot of hunting camps, and places to be able to stash your stuff etc, with wild life running amok around there. And there shpuld be a safe route to go down there without meeting the high tier places in the middle of the map.

But what the main problem i, is that the forest should have been up north of the river, not south.

I love livonia for the scenery but yea sometimes I loot up on chenarus then go to livonia and head straight for the south. It’s pretty fun and gives a better survival feel rather than all the towns and cities in cherna. Also most of the towns in livonia are ruins so they’re not going to pop up in the map of towns

being very new to playing dayz, this map is great for intro and getting into the game. just having the time between encounters to figure out how to fix yourself helps a lot.

After seeing the map of Chernarus as a new player I was straight flabbergasted and wanted to quit lmao. But now I love it bc its a one and done type of map

Livonia is amazing in Arma but since Contact DLC is very expensive pretty much no one plays it. The first Contact Campaign is gorgeous so Livonia will remain in Singleplayer Void at least until it becomes free in Arma 4.

Maybe the Dev's trying to add more dynamic zones which they need the empty space for.. otherwise it's the most boring map i have ever played.. barely nbc gear anywhere.. south is all woods.. spawns are bad

instead of MB MB all over the place, they should lean into the arma dlc origins, add an alien crashsight with big military presence around or something. Arma 3 Contact was very interesting to me because the tone was done really well in the first part, the rest was not great, but the heavy fog in the forest gave it almost a horror feel. DayZ needs something like that to make livonia more exciting, plus aliens are cool.

So I’ve just spent a week in Livonia (about 6-8 hours play time a day) I died 9 times, 7 of them came from fresh spawn areas, 1 from AFK and the gas hit my location, 1 from a Bush Wookiee. For PVP it is a good map, although a lot of players who do run away tend to run to the trees and eventually you lose them. Base building is a nightmare on this map as the fresh spawns to mid map is covered in bases. Topo itself is covered in bases, I think I counted 14 bases! Every other area I got chance to visit almost had at least 1-2 bases. It’s literally build at your own risk, and there’s a lot of Gas located areas, they was the rarest to see a base there. From 2 lives I had I got to the good loot areas and throughout both them lives I didn’t find a single soul and yet when I checked to see the list of people in the lobby you might as well say it was full and I was in 2 servers both at 60 players (community). The only time I could find combat was back up north around fresh areas, because that’s where all the gear guys where as there literally nothing to do at the bottom. Honestly it has potential to be a fantastic idea of a map, but it lacks variety and the value of finding gear is quite dull as I have to run back up just to get action! Oh and it seems people have found the way on using fresh spawn bases to means of only killing fresh, as the only time I seen a big squad was in a base that’s located in a FS and I counted 3 people full geared to a T.

Charnorus is great but Livonia brings different experience. Fact is they need to modify it toward more military areas spread across

Tried Livonia earlier and felt like I was running for hours to get between towns. Ppl say the map is smaller?! Smaller amount of towns spread out far and wide it seems.

The biggest difference I notice between Charnarus and Livonia , is the non stop artillery on Livonia. Maybe this is because there's less towns and thus less of a likelihood that the town you're currently at is about to get hit with gas, but when I'm on Livonia and I hear the artillery launch, I make a b-line for the exterior of the zone because I swear it feels like 50/50 it's landing on me.

Livonia is a fun map to play with wholelottaaltis mod in Arma 3.

You need to an update video. You haven’t down the bunkers And big under 3level bunker And industrial. I play on Xbox and south is where I do most of pvp down there

Seems like they really watched this video Paul and took it to heart (even though it's still rather empty lol, but I always did enjoy Livonia for it's scenery).... what I still wish they would do, and I'm sure I've already commented this ages ago lol, but I wish they would doll up Tanoa for DayZ SA (IMO, the best official A3 map, tropical Islands galore) , finally give us our promised helicopters and boats, and Tanoa would be absolutely epic for a very unique, very different, very mobile map.... again, as long as they added some military installments and stuff, but it's an utterly glorious map, especially the hidden temples in the jungle....god I wish my old favorite A3 Exile Mod Tanoa server was still up and active.... I'd immediately give up DayZ and play that daily for hours on end, building my beautiful base on an island or in the deep jungle and doing hardcore AI missions to my heart's content 😅

Well the good things about the map is the sighns are english and it doesn't take as long to get from 1 town to another like cherno does but really thats all thats good about it at the moment i think anway i just really hate the fact theres not many military zones to get loot from

Thanks for the overview. Livonia includes a lot of running and not many MBs are located within tier 3 loot zones. Most of the time these feel like being tier 2 ones lootwise. If I want proper loot before PvP then I use the following route. First I try to find a convoy and loot the punched card. Then I'll go to the bunker, loot it for the ABC gear/weapons and then I hit Radunin. If I am lucky I get out of there with a suppressed M4. This is my solo run on Livonia most of the time. The only point is to be lucky to make it that far, because many high geared are lurking around tier 2 zone looking for you 😉
That's a little bit of a problem, because most of the tier 3 zones are without any players.

I love the vibe of Livonia, but it needs a lot of reworking.

The problem of building a base and survive in "southern bushes" is that geared players will confortably raid there, too.

Meanwhile, we got the bunker in south-west.

I like the false sense of solitude in Livonia..

The reason why people go back from Tisy no Coast, is that they can gank freshspawns.

Respectfully, I just think the criticism is uncalled for. Livonia is nothing like Chernarus, so why is that bad? It is its own play style, it has its own unique way of playing. I don’t think it is a better map than chernarus, but for people (like me) that love survival games, this map is it man. I didn’t come to Dayz all those years ago for a huge call of duty map, I came to survive. Personally, I love the pve aspect of any survival game, and Livonia has captured that to a T. Some people think it’s boring, and that’s okay. You have the freedom to play chernarus and some modded map. People that play Livonia play for a different reason. I hate getting end game loot because I feel like I should just commit suicide and restart, the fun is in the come up. That’s why chernarus got stale because there are millions of military bases all around the map. Livonia makes you survive off grid more, less military bases, but means more dangerous when you finally get to one. Idk, Livonia is amazing in my opinion, I understand the critics, but not all of them make sense

I know Livonia has a small but passionate fan base and I’m sure some of you love it just the way it is. That’s fine, people like diff stuff.

However it’s sold loads of copies and there really isn't very many people playing it at all, clearly something is missing. I think the devs know it needs some tweaking and have said they have major updates planned for it this year. Can’t wait to see what they have in store!!!
