I've been studying the Bronze Age for the basis of writing a Pathfinder world setting. I wanted to imagine how cultures would develop among 2 sentient races, humans and Strix (bird-people). Humans would prefer permanent fortified settlements and agriculture, whereas Strix would be based on nomadic peoples, preferring pastoralism, trade, and mobility.
All of that is to say, I've been imagining how technology would develop along those 2 different philosophies.
Enki being the god of science and fresh water makes sense when you consider the perspective that fresh water / irrigation == civilization to the people of that time and culture.

This is an amazing story told in it's entirety. It is very long and gradually the Sumerians and their language disappear after a very long time and very many wars, and horrible happenings and killings or centuries. However their gift of writing and concise way or ordering and running a country prevails. The history seems to go on forever, but the most important parts are still there. Cynthia Allen-McLaglen
