I knew it. This has to be his delusion/vision mode. In the comics, it was mentioned that his vision and delusion had somehow fused into one, which made Dottore so fascinated. This could be his state where he still uses his delusio albeit still using flames (he's a pyro character after all, Mihoyo can't just switch his attacks for the sake of lore accuracy)

It's even better knowing Childe isn't just a fatuus but a harbinger. 😂 Edit: I am a dummy, turns out it's FLT that hurts Childe, not the delusion. I believe Diluc is not using a delusion as he is wearing a ring which seems to be his vision.

I like to think that in his skin the reason why we can't see his vision is because he is using his delusion instead
