its not a matter of doing good work to earn salvation. you get salvation through baptism, but you need to work to keep that salvation. i repeat KEEP, not EARN. you earn salvation from jesus through baptism, you keep it by not doing mortal sins (like murdering someone). if you're a born again christian, do you think you could go on killing spree on people? if you commit suicide right after you got baptized, do you still think you go to heaven? nah right?

I think merit also proves that we are willing to continually keep Gods commandments and not falter from our faith. It needn’t make us insecure but continuously have a relationship with God and to emulate Christ

I’ve always had issues with Catholicism because of its inherit paganism and idolatry (worship of angels, “saints” [biblically, all who are saved are saints] and Mother Mary) but if this is its fundamental theology, then Catholicism is even more dangerous than I thought.

Salvation: Romans 10:9-10; simple. Baptism is NOT salvation. Salvation is a gift that needs to be consciously received and chosen; infants cannot do that. The Bible highlights the innocence of children regardless of their ethnic origin and David’s first child with Bathsheba didn’t even live long enough to be baptised yet, David said the child is now with GOD in heaven.

Baptism is important and so is communion for the sake of remembrance but there is NO SALVATION in these things, neither is there salvation even in the Bible. In Christ alone.

Bro what is this "depending on your definition of faith, grace, justification and salvation" thing. Objectively speaking those things can't be anything else than what they are so why would you even bother mention it

Protestants are just the rebellious children of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church abandoned the true faith when they threw away them 10 commandments. The True church was persecuted by the Catholics. The True church is small, because narrow is the path and few find it.

The Lord does not care about your denomination! He just wants you to follow him and pick up your cross!

I believe the whole argument is how we define "works" relating to salvation. If the "works" are faith based and used to strengthen our faith, then yes it is absolutely necessary, but the "works" in Ephesians are more described as physical works like charity in which that has no ground alone on salvation for boasting purposes for our "works are as filthy rags". The works needed for salvation to keep the faith "alive" will be faith based works such as praying and healing ministries in the Name of Jesus. Spiritual works vs physical works.

Catholic: People are misinterpreting the Bible if their teachings disagree with the RCC (Pope=higher authority).
Protestant: Church teachings contradicting the Bible are not from God (written word of God=higher authority).

Also faith and grace are different. Having faith is an action upon us. But by grace we are saved. Grace is a gift Given from him. Yes so faith alone cannot save us because that is our own action to her point, it is not our action by grants us in to heaven. It’s from his grace. That is why Faith alone will not save us…

And yeah, baptism is important but it doesn’t grant you access into Heaven because it’s a work. Your recognition for His grace and who he is come before your works… period. His grace is your salvation.

There is no word to add to the Word of God. There is no word with the same authority as the unchanging and everlasting word of God.

Even the apostle Paul dared not to add or overwrite what is written.

And we know why the roman popes forbid to read that clear and unchanging word - the Bible. ...and people were murdered by that system, when they attempted to translate the Bible in their language.

People lost there life for defending the church from that system.

There were 12 qualified Apostel, Chosen by the Lord and there is no sukzession bei an office or nature in the scriptures.

It was a special time, the beginning of the last time with special signs and revelation.

The scriptures are breathed by the mouth of God. If somebody today speaks with the same authority, we have to add his words to the scriptures, but that is not necessary, never the case and even an assault against the person and authority of Jesus Christ, who is the fulfillment of the scriptures and also the Last and complete revelation about what we need to know and how to receive eternal life.

Don't be confused or seduced by strange spirits and even a false Jesus.
True unity comes from heaven as a blessing by the holy Spirit and not by a system or an arm of flesh like an office.
Even the councils contradicted like the popes each other.
If a system is corrupt and if there is any kind of sin in there, it's impossible to have holy unity.

Listen to the words Christ spoke in scripture. Do what he said not what the “reformers” ( Protestants) of the Catholic Church want you to do.
Also, in the faith alone argument, you can not exclude some directives in scripture for the sake of others.

The sacraments are irrelevant for your salvation. Doing them doesn't get you into Heaven.

Faith which leads to repentance is what saves you. And this is done only by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said you must be born again in John Chapter 3.

I don’t do denominations and I am an apologist. There is no need to debate this stuff is Christ didn’t rise from the dead or if god didn’t create the universe. I stick to the very basics.

John 3:5 is referring back to Ezekiel 36. Nicodemus would have known that. Also just a few verses down is 16-18.

As a Catholic, I agree and how he eloquently justified these arguments of faith! I wish all Catholics can debate like this especially use quotes from the Bible.

The problem with that Protestant saying that "faith alone blah blah blah" is that it is DOCTRINE, (wrong doctrine) though they say it is Scripture. It's their interpretation, not even what the Scripture says again and again. They are so sadly mistaken.

I cant agree with the catholics here. I am saved by grace and by grace alone. If I need anything else but Jesus, I am lost. But Jesus paid all of my fault on that cross. If I need to be good, it is game over for me. In my Teenager time e.g. I lusted countless times, though I knew Scriptures and tried to follow Jesus.
I do not have anything to bring to Jesus. Everything "I have achieved" is his grace. Not my good works. He gives me the will and the power to change. It is all his. When I go to heaven, there is nothing I have achieved, I can bring Jesus only his grace and everything he has done. That will save me and bring me to him.
