Years ago, I dreamed about animated photographs. That tape recorder reminded me of that dream.

I didn't think of that. Using it to print little grocery list. But other than that they're not worth it

i tried to copy a photo inside with the same nomenclature as the files taken by the camera but when i try to print it from the camera, it just shows a black screen. is there any preprocessing you did to your import file so that the camera would recognise it, other than changing the name to match the scheme?

the comparison video i desperately need (i am on the edge of which ones to buy) but is it the video i want to hear...? 😂 i rlly like the concept of thermal camera printer but seeing the result makes me balk :o

I think the camera printer is still not quite calibrated properly, the darks are still a gokd bit darker than they should be in my opinion. I think that's the main reason why the BT one produces better looking results

Hi Mat, are you able to help me understand how to change the format of the file so I can print a photo photo on my camera? I change the name to the same as the others in a pattern but my camera didn’t recognise it. Thanks!

I love that it can do QR codes. Canny for printing tickets and stuff so no scrambling to open your phone when standing in line

Actually got myself a camera, and it seems like the dithering also depends on the kind of paper you're using. I got about 4-5 different kinds of rolls with various thicknesses and surfaces and they all look completely different. The smoother the paper, usually anyways, the more pigment they've put in, meaning the resolution of the image will be better, and dark parts will be darker and the overall quality of the image will be higher. You can get some really neat details in there. Alternatively the paper that looks bumpy under a phone flashlight will prove to create dithering prints, which in turn look more stylized and are great for a more oldschool/creepy sort of aesthetic where contrast can give you some nice result.

Also the printing element reheats quickly, depending on the paper too. The bumpy paper gives bad results after about 2-3 images, while the smoother kinds give that at about 5-7 prints.

I will return both of them and spend 10 pound exta to get a sony DSCW800 for the kids. It has way better picture quality and the kids will have something they can look at 20yrs later 😂

Glad you mentioned that these prints don't last forever, during summertime a thermally printed weekly bus ticket can be obliterated in less than a week!

I have used my printer to make huge birthday banners, christmas cards even use the print outs as templates for my wood carving figurines

I actually love the pink one's dark-lomo-lofi gothesque style. The look of the pictures really contrasts the look of the camera itself, and I love that too. Actually thinking of buying one for myself, though they definitely should rate it PG or something.. kinda depressive haha

An instant camera that uses thermal paper is very attractive to me, I will have to consider this. The print quality might be able to be worked with - it might be possible a 'Moriyama' style if you know what you're doing, but I am unsure.

Perkin Elmer made a printer that took an RS170 input. It would print whatever was on the screen it was slaved off of. It was called the Perkin Elmer Pussycat.

I love the greyscales. pics arnt great but for me its perfect to do old style photos.

the second one look nice for making new old stile photos in black and white like 0 edit and you have like a 100 year old photo only that you need to put a nice picture in the sd no using the built in camera

The quality of prints of the second one reminds me of those thermal paper cameras on kiddie rides at the Chuck E. Cheese way back in the day!

Now i wish you would do one on one HI-Quality portable printer with a medium budget of around $300-500 including the paper for at least 100 prints and at most 1000 prints.

I am an artist that enjoys working with low rez cameras. One of my best photos was done with a 1.2 MP camera on a Palm PDA. It was done with native black and white. I can imagine getting some really awesome artistic photos with a thermal printer. I would then pop the print on my scanner. It would be fun to do the 5 strips, scan them in, and stitch them together in software.

I got a Peripage A6 printer having watched this video, I feel it is a fair review, one aspect not explored is that a Windows driver is available on the Peripage website, this works with a USB connection to the printer. Options in the driver are very limited, halftoning can be set to two sizes of dots, super cell or auto, orientation, pages per sheet (!) and paper size (roll width x length or height of A4, or 3.276 metres!). Printing works, but the paper stops when the print stops and is not ejected up to the cutter bar. Still, a useful alternative to printing via the app.

Totally just bought the 'bear' one. Utterly useless, but therein lays the charm 😂 And, yes, I do have far superior products, but who cares 😄

The Thermal paper contains hormone disrupting chemicals, I'd rather have an ink printer. Please don't give this to your child, the chemical enters your body through the skin

SAFETY NOTE:
The paper rolls may contain bisphenol-a. It´s a hormone that´s dangerous especially for kids and causes delayed onset of breast development.
BPA has been forbidden in Germany last year, so I threw the two rolls away that came with the camera and bought BPA free ones. They work fine.
