Piano Part from The 8-Bit Big Band's "Lifelight" - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

At the beginning of the pandemic, Charlie Rosen, director of The 8-Bit Big Band put out a call to musicians to play on his latest arrangement -- "Lifelight" from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Musicians had to learn their parts and record them to a click and send in the recording and video. There were a total of 664 musicians who participated and every single one of them was included in the final video. Wow!

I'm proud to be one of those 664 musicians. Here is my performance that I submitted for the arrangement. The piano part was written with a mix of chord symbols where I comped chords as well as sections written out exactly.

There was a section that said "Solo!" over top and I interpreted that to mean "piano solo." (It was actually a sax solo.) So, I wrote a piano solo. Though, it didn't make the final arrangement, it was a lot of fun to create and I'm excited to have it in THIS video. :)

For transparency, the final recording heard here was several takes edited together. So, there are times when what I'm playing in the video is not what is heard in the audio.
