With another year ahead, I wish you all the best for 2023. And oh yeah...what was your most worn watch of the year?

It’s so fun to see how different watch owners are from one another. They wear for their own reasons and like what they like. That confidence further validates my own taste and style that may be vastly different from someone else. We like what we like!

Just ask yourself what is happening with a main spring when an automatic watch is fully wound? Well it is actually slipping quite forcefully along the wall of the spring barrel, grinding it through grinding grease. This process is slowly but surely wearing this part of the mechanism out. After some time the slipping there may get so good that the spring will not be able to have enough back-force to drive the actual mechanism of the watch. For that not to happen the watch winder would basically have to be precisely as slow going as the winding mechanism is compensating for the watch ticking. This is never the case. They keep the main spring under full tension. Watch winders are therefore an excellent way to shorten the lifespan of your watch. If you don't use a watch l- et it rest. If the oiling gets gritty due to lack of usage the werk was due for a service anyway.
