I dont always think of the Fender Stratocaster but when I do.. I think of Layla by Clapton.

The end of an era of real music and great artists. Such a sad music scene today.

Eric Clapton on guitar, Phil Collins on drums and Donald Duck on bass.

It’s a weird feature of modern pop/rock music that there’s no obvious personality in the way instruments are played or mixed. Within 1 bar of this I could have told you we had Clapton on guitar and Collins on drums. There’s just something about those accents which screams Phil Collins. Supplementary opinion. I don’t think he’s the best drummer for a track like this, this is a guitar forward track and his style is insistent, invasive. He doesn’t serve the song unless it’s a Phil Collin’s tune.

Clapton not playing a gibson didn't feel right

Phill is a close friend of Eric Clapton they play or used to in a cricket fundraiser every year, unfortunately by the time Phill Collins flew over to play with Led Zeppelin he was cooked and Page and Plant did not blaming him for their bad set for their standards anyway, in saying that Freddie and Queen blew every one of stage 🚶🚶🚶🏃

Good Old JFK, was supposed to see Led Zep there, but cancelled when Plant's son died tragically. My one friend was so devastated he never got his money back. Cherished that ticket and died with it in his wallet.

Remember led zeppelin blaming Phil Collins, yet look at the quality of this performance with him on drums….

Who would think Phil Collins sucks ???? He’s an amazing singer and drummer

He’s missing Duane Allmans spectacular slide guitar that was part of the original Layla. Listening to this you notice a huge void left without Duane’s guitar.

Weird how Collins fits in seamlessly here but somehow ruined Zeppelin’s set.

And the Ethiopians had twice as many children so there was an even greater famine. True story.

Don't forget Donald "Duck" Dunn at bass, and Chris Stainton at keyboards.

It just feels so hollow without Dwayne's slide word on it, Eric did what he could but I feel even he knew that it was missing, which is why he didn't want to originally play this song.
