Please get some help, I didn’t and it was not a good end. No support from most friends and family. I didn’t realize I was trying to save her but not caring for myself

Home health care agencies do nothing to assist their employees to prevent burnout, I reached out to managers for help with no success my only option was to quit a job I had for almost 10 years plus pay is always low so low even McDonald’s pays more than caregiver agencies.

I've been a caretaker of various family members for 26 years. I'm burned out now from taking care of a family member with cancer who is very selfish, manipulative and controlling. His personality was this way before being diagnosed with cancer. Every family member has been supportive of him but it's never enough. I'm at my wits end to the point I just want to run away to save my sanity and emotional well being .

I can't take it anymore. I have a disabled and elderly parent with COPD, advanced cerebral atrophy, tardive dyskinesia, mobility issues, and she functions at roughly a five- or seven-year-old level (and has for over a decade) I am up over and over to turn on, turn off her TV and select channels for her, making her food, doing the laundry, cleaning the house, cleaning up after her (she defecates the bed and makes messes all the time). She sometimes lumbers up to take the wrong medications if they aren't kept from her, and she somehow lumbers into the kitchen while I'm asleep and binge eats sweets and causes messes (she gets bruises falling down while doing this). She can lumber into the kitchen at night but can't get out of bed to use the bathroom, so I have to clean the fecal matter out of her clothes, and what is WORSE is that I am already dealing with a severe hack that has been going on for over a decade and prevents me from working.

In all honesty you really cant prevent caregiver burnouts...Even the most level headed person has thier limits.

Exactly what I'm living. I'm 69 and care for my mother who is 91. Not easy ... especially if your siblings "have no time to care, are living to far away, don't know how ..." And if they add : " Your are the only one who chose to do the job ... Bad luck ! Now go on ... "
Among your prevention recommandations I neglected one : "Move, stay physically active, go and walk" You are certainly true . I think It's very useful. Thank you.

Taking care of an elderly parent is the most traumatizing painful experience, I’d get my limbs sawed off then deal with it, some people in life really have it well

I just need to talk. I took care of my mom for 3 years until she passed from Alzheimer’s. Since then I am, again the sole caregiver, for my 87 year old dad with dementia. I can’t sleep besides my dad gets up so many times at night and he needs help walking. Thank you for just being here tonight so that I can actually say these words. I love my dad, he’s a good “patient”. He Jokes and laughs unlike my mom who, in late stages of her Alzheimer’s, would hit me, throw things, try to kick me while changing her diapers. I am just soooooo tired but I can’t sleep......

I work from home, take care of a disabled/bed ridden brother and another family member that has a mental disability, manage a house and they all live with me. I don't know how I manage to get through the day. I am not a young person and worry my life will be cut short because I have no one to help. I tried to get home care but after constant and repeated requests for documents dating 5 yrs ago as proof of his income became very frustrating. No matter how many times we sent the documents, they wanted more so we gave up. Its very hard to get help unless you are destitute. He can't afford to pay himself for homecare. Hopefully this video will at least help me de-stress otherwise I am headed for severe burnout and a shortened life.
