I have a suggestion! Maybe test some of the Milwaukee non-fuel products to see how big the difference really is for the price difference between fuel and non-fuel!

From a health standpoint sawdust collection is extremely important! Sawdust is a known carcinogen. The only saw in this collection that appeared to make any type of provision for dust collection is the Bosch which appears to have a vacuum attachment chute. All the others do the opposite with blowers to disperse more sawdust into the air. Therefore the Bosch is the only saw in this group that I would even consider buying.

This the the first time I've seen a testing that I disagree with on this channel. The cycle 5 times is just the same test as the blade stop just magnified 5x. In so doing, the saws that did poorly in the blade stop test were just further penalized a second time for the same performance metric. In so doing you artificially boosted the Craftsman in your summary. Without that cycling 5 times test, the Craftsman drops to 6th place, and the Makita jumps to 3rd.
Line graphs on the cut speed would have been helpful for a comparison. Mainly to show how little difference there was in the average cut speed.
One major test that was missing was how much can they cut with their standard batteries.

except the craftsman is $130, why don't you test brands that don't want to be milwaukee and actually stay consistently cheap like bauer.

Im s little disappointed you didnt include the Metabo HPT C7SB3 in this test. Its my current saw, and hands down the best all around circular saw Ive ever owned. Very durable, Easy to use, and cuts very well. Also advertises 6000 no load RPM and I would have liked to see how close to that it actually gets. Hard to tell just by feel, but its a very strong saw, and Id love to see how it stacks up.

Also would be interesting to see some of the 6-1/2" saws compared with each other or their 7-1/4" counterparts. I bought the ridgid 7-1/4 thinking i was getting an upgrade to my 6-1/2" and it stinks. Blade depth is harder to read, lacks the additional power needed for the bigger blade.

For me one of the most important parameters is quality of the foot, and bevel/height adjustments. So basically, stability and precision. I don't care much for speed - my home projects maybe have a dozen of cuts in a go.

Got a question for my fellow tool fanatics: I've got a craftsman brushless circular saw, identical to the one shown here. It has a new, sharp blade and the saw itself is far too new to be worn out. Since I've bought the thing, it has a very strong tendency to stall out in lumber (simple 2x4's, nothing extreme). The blade will stop and the LED will blink at me. I'm using fully charged 4AH batteries that work flawlessly in my other tools. Seeing the performance here suggests to me that i should be able to get much better results from my saw. Any suggestions to remedy this? Thanks!

I couldn’t say for sure, but it looked like you used a standard Ryobi battery with their HP tool instead of an HP battery with their HP tool. Based on my experience using both battery types with these tools, there is a significant difference in capability. I would wager the Ryobi would perform toward the other end on power/cut speed. Perhaps not with the ramp up speed and braking, but for my uses, those tests aren’t very important to me.

I plan to buy a circular saw and torn between Ryobi brushless 7 1/4 with 18v/6A battery and Dewalt 6 1/2 brush with 20v/5A battery. They are just the same price and I know Dewalt has a better reputation but Ryobi offers the brushless one and bigger saw. Hope to get your tool expert advise. Thanks
