Spider-Man (1985), Directed by Tobe Hooper

Happy Halloween everyone. This is my recreation of an early attempt to adapt Spider-Man to the big screen as a horror film. The film would have been directed by Toby Hopper and would have been written by Leslie Stevens.

In the film Peter Parker is an ID photographer, making ID badges for a research facility. Then one day he is experimented on by a scientist called Doctor Zork bombards him with radiation turning Peter into an eight armed spider monster. The film would have contained elements of Cronenberg's The Fly as well and The Wolf Man and see Spider-Man face off against a group of mutants created by Zork.

Tom Cruise was attached to the film playing the role of Peter Parker. Then he read the script and suddenly wasn't attached to the film.

The project was eventually halted after Stan Lee read the script and convinced the studio to drop the idea.
