What a load of (s)crap! Closed loop! LOL. Stop and think. Bottle to bottle. What happens when they keep taking in more and more plastic? Ultimately they just keep producing more garbage! They're doing a great job there. But they're just fighting a losing battle by just dealing with a non stop problem. Think of the cost, energy and manpower it takes to begin to recycle this garbage there! Plus, 80% goes to China. Far more than it's worth!! It's still not recycled!! It's prepped for shipping to China or 3rd world nations. More $$$! This type of recycling around the world is a farce and corporations are looking at the $$$$ they're making and shrugging their shoulders at the problem they're creating and saying "Who cares! We're not responsible!" Look here's how to fix it.

STOP making cans and plastic containers!! Make glass containers and biodegradable paper products. IF people want to recycle them, all well and good. If not go to the landfill. It's all natural and will break down. Man! We humans are so stubborn and stupid!

Very interesting, worth noting that many plastics can't be recycled however sophisticated the facility. Ok my question re plastic bottles containers etc, why aren't they washed and reused? That's surely a much much easier and less problematic system. I'd make say 3-4 bottle sizes that all drink manufacturers have to use nation-wide, make a really good quality product initially and then just wash and reuse. I have soup containers I use for water pots and they have been going for years and years + are still absolutely fine and useable.

You can't recycle plastic bottles forever. Polymers break down with each heat cycle, downgrading the material quality.

You are misleading people. This plastic cannot be used " forever" since everytime it is recycled itvlose a high % of its contains. Another data did not mention is the % of recycled material obtained each recycled time.

I'm all about helping recycle anything that can, but where I live, they don't collect. And when you take the time to take anything to them, other than steel, they just toss it right into the landfill because nobody wants it anywhere near here, unless they are making huge profit from it. we really have created a huge mess of the world that very few even want to realize.

How much energy is being used to recycle these? I am 100% for recycling, but it seems like it is still very wasteful. There has to be a better way. I wish the bottles I used could be returned directly to the manufacturer of the product for them to be sanitized and reused.

Nobody likes recycled bullshit ! Only big companies& corporations. If you recycled something long enough the quality of the product degrades overtime , thus leaving you with a shitty product that you still have to pay the same price for. Meaning the big guys on top waste less and make just as much or more. Thats how corporations make money ! I want new plastic ! Good quality! Durable! Even if I have to pay the extra buck I will aslong as the product is worth it. Give me what I paid for !! don't give me some sublime b.s product that's made out of recycled garbage that breaks under a year .
