1 1/2 lbs. raw ground beef
salt and pepper
Dough:
3 cups self rising flour or all purpose flour
6 tablespoons of cold vegetable shortening or cold butter
1 1/2 cups or more of milk or buttermilk
Note: if using all purpose flour, you need to add 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt .
Note: For best results, chill your butter or vegetable shortening in the freezer for 10-20 minutes before beginning this recipe. Doing this will help you dough be light, flaky, buttery when baked.
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a bowl add flour , and cold vegetable shortening or cold butter and cut it into your flour mixture using a pastry cutter or using a fork, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add milk, use a spoon or spatula to stir until combined (don't over-work the dough).
Transfer your biscuit dough to a well-floured surface and use your hands to gently work the dough together. If the dough is too sticky, add flour until it is manageable.
Now roll out dough using a rolling pin thats been floured into a 12×8-inch rectangle.
Spread the raw uncooked ground beef evenly over top of the dough.
Roll the dough up tightly kinda like you do cinnamon rolls from the long edge.
Cut the roll crosswise into 1-inch thick slices.
Place the slices cut side down into greased pan.
Bake till dough is done and so is ground beef, I always put them under the broiler for a couple minutes at the end so the top getting golden brown.
Serve with beef gravy, mashed potatoes and a veggie, and enjoy.

Beef Brown Gravy
1/2 cup bacon grease or vegetable shortening
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
5 to 6 cups milk, i used half milk and half water, and alittle evaporated milk i had left to to make the 5 to 6 cups worth.
In a heavy bottom skillet, whisk together bacon drippings and flour over medium heat. Continue to cook until the mixture browns slightly, about 5 to 7 minutes, but be careful not to let it burn it.
Add milk, 1 cup at a time, whisking thoroughly with each addition.
Continue to whisk over medium heat until gravy is smooth and begins to thicken.
Add salt and pepper, and beef bouillon granules.
Serve over warm over hamburger pinwheels.
