God when even the title is wrong… you can’t make something that has to be protective out of solid gold. There’s a reason miners bite a piece of gold when they pull it up. Solid gold is very soft and will bend under the weight of your teeth. So obviously the helmets aren’t solid gold. The “gold helmets” come from a paint that was made with gold dust collected off the last renovation of the golden dome, and mixed into the paint batch. There are specks of real gold in it but let’s not embarrass ourselves by saying the helmets are made solid gold.

They don't even paint the helmets anymore.
