To be fair I have an OG slow stick with the wood built up wing kit
ОтветитьJust remember the as3x helps get people into the hobby.
ОтветитьThis is cool and awesome but in NewZealand It’s $500 (USD 296)
ОтветитьI can’t say anything good about the slow ultra stick. Landing gear broke on the first flight. Second flight the plastic joiner for the tail broke. It’s just too much work to fix this
ОтветитьThat thing is bad ass! Did ya ever find a fix for the landing gear?
ОтветитьThe AR630 is my favorite receiver what is it you don't like about it
ОтветитьSwitch places with the battery and ESC (1800-2200 lipo under the wing) - flight will be SUBSTANTIALLY better in every way and the only way to achieve the ideal CG of 120mm.
ОтветитьWhat is the name/model of the wheels you upgraded to?
ОтветитьHey!!!! 2K LIkes.... DId I miss the Challenge????? This plane should be in everyone's hangar... BTW 4S 2200 with 3 Blade MAS Prop... Yippee!!!!! Sadly I only have Timber wheels to put on it... Still on my second bag of spare LG....
ОтветитьOrdered mine in May, based on early July ETA. Just got a reply to my inquiry… NEW ETA PUSHED BACK TO FEBRUARY 2024 !!!!! Grrrrrrr
Ответитьdang I was envisioning a video comparing this to the GWS Slow stick and then I watched this again and saw the ending
ОтветитьDo you have a link for those fun cub tires?
Thank you,
So if I’m more into flying slow and stol, is this better than the turbo timber evo? How do they compare ?
What type of person gets the SUS over the TTE and vice versa ?
Fun vid. I love my SUS. Don’t let the landing gear thing scare you. You gotta really screw up a landing to break them. I’ve broken a few doing FPV landings uphill into tall weeds, where I would expect most planes’ landing gear to break. The good part is it just snaps off and doesn’t destroy the bottom of the fuselage like so may other planes. And it’s able to swap out in seconds with no tools. And replacements are cheap. I do lots of touch and goes and high speed taxi when I’m on a proper grass runway and even my road, LOS and FPV, and less than great landings with no problem. It only breaks on the real “oof” ones.
It’s much heavier than the stock GwS slow stick, but after you mod the GWS to have ailerons and more sturdy landing gear and moderate battery and all that, it’s nearly this heavy anyway.
Tape a piece of foam/cardboard to the vertical stabilizer (extending it) and see if it will knife edge. Bracing it properly, etc.
ОтветитьI've noticed they are on backorder for a while. Maybe they are addressing some of its issues...
ОтветитьWhat size motor does it use?
ОтветитьWhat wheels are those? Anyone have a link?
ОтветитьI love you guys! The R/C community need more of you. If you are ever in so cal let me take you to my local field and show you some really cool flying spots.
ОтветитьA simple cross brace would sort that landing gear out
ОтветитьOk no way I'm paying $200 for a stick. Went into the video expecting a much lower price point.
ОтветитьHorizons products have became wayyy overpriced for how cheap there products are designed. Super expensive for a foam wing if you brake one. Even their electronics are cheaply made and overpriced.
Ответитьfun!
ОтветитьI loved my GWS Slow Stick so much! It was my first successful attempt at flying RC. I had a couple other brushed, NiMH planes that I tried to get into the air, but the Slow Stick was the first one that was forgiving enough to fly with all of the disadvantages: Brushed, NiMH, and my meager build, setup, and flying skills at that time. Once I put a Tower Pro brushless outrunner and a LiPo battery on it, I was hooked on RC planes. I got a Parkzone T-28 not long after that I have hundreds of flights on, and I still take it out of retirement from time to time.
Considering that the GWS Slow Stick is a little hard to pick up these days, this fits the bill nicely. There's something special about these stick frame planes, they are just so easy and carefree to fly. I wish they would sell it as a kit though! Building my old Slow Stick was a really cool, formative experience.
Can I get one with an 8 foot wing span?
ОтветитьNow you too can experience sub-par quality for $200
ОтветитьIs there a hobbyking version?
ОтветитьThis things appeals to me as much as an hour alone with Biden - I don’t get the fuss really don’t. Take your dead Timber (you Spektrum sheep) and stick the wings and empennage on a literal stick and save yourself $200-300
ОтветитьBig wheels, high power to weight....awesome. the price? No thanks. Does a slow stick need Uber experience rx/servo/radio? Imo, nope. And then the landing gear...how hard was it to make a flexible landing gear?
ОтветитьBravo.perfect
ОтветитьVravo.perfect
ОтветитьGreat review
Ответить2003 and GWS brings out the SlowStik as a larger, more wind capable platform the PicoStik pioneeered. One of my local hobbyist buddies had established a name for himself on RCGroups forum ( The EZone back then..) for all of the mods he made of this kit, first brushless conversions, twin motors, biplanes, triplanes, canards, AP platform, ailerons and pitcherons, flaps, 8 IPS drives, 4 CD-ROM kit motors. He'd go into the hobby shop and come home with 4 SS kits. When Balsa Products brought out their $18 BP-21Y brushless motor it was the perfect upgrade for GWS's short lived EPS300 and EPS350 can motor geardrives.
Someone needs to bring back the original Slow Stick, these ARF wannabes are pale comparisons.
Shame you for using expo?? I think not!! EVERY plane I have gets maximum throw physically possible, then 50-60% expo to make it fly smooth in the middle sticks. No switches, no muss, no fuss. Im not exactly a noob -- Been flying 35 years. Not using cheap equipment with limited functionality, went from JR 28x to a Spektrum IX20se. Just works for me!
ОтветитьWhare can i get the fun cub tire?
ОтветитьI want to spend $199 on this thing just build my own cheaper
Ответитьi bought some sqaure aluminum tubing a size bigger than the landing gear and cut it to fit from the wheel base to just above the plastic after the two gear pieces meet and it no longer breaks
ОтветитьLooks like fun
Ответитьwe should design a gear-set thats 3dprinted
ОтветитьNice vid, just a quick question, since you have the og fun cub, is there any way to find parts or are there none left? I have one and i am looking for spares. Thanks in advance, keep up the great vids!
ОтветитьThank god for another channel using the red arrow and big yellow letters in the thumbnail.
It had been almost 4 video thumbnails since I'd seen that.
I don't want to break the red-arrow tradition being overused on every channel since 2001.
Awesome.
ОтветитьThis plane is rapidly becoming my favorite park flyer. I have snapped landing gear, but I'd rather that than something that keeps me out of the air. Im absolutely doing the flaperon mod as soon as servos are available.
ОтветитьJust how hard is it to get a big broad wing and a full tail feather set , a long carbon fibre tube and instead of those cheap CF landing gear use metal. Even just buy wing and tail gear make your own
ОтветитьWouldn't pay that. Not at all
ОтветитьAnybody know where you can get the funcub wheels to put on this plane?
ОтветитьAnother awesome video. Thankyou. Always get a good laugh.
ОтветитьI have one of these. It's still in the box. I'm not sure I even want it after hearing about all of the landing gear issues. The new gear isn't exactly cheap and if it's just gonna break, it's money wasted. It's not cost-effective to ship back to Horizon, so I dunno what I'll do with it.
ОтветитьCongrats on 20k guys! Can’t wait to see you hit the next milestone! Been here since 5k haha
ОтветитьI wanna see an FMS Kingfisher next!
