All this stuff being sold once belonged to an old guy who’s now dead….and will be bought by an old guy still alive.

Watch out for SD Bullion. Called after my first order and asked why I wasn't offered my first purchase at spot which they advertise. Needless to say; I never received any satisfaction. The cust rep was rude and condescending. Will not buy from them ever again,

So coin websites that say no mint mark makes it rare, is just a lie. Thanks for letting me know. Even an error on a coin making it super rare and expensive is a lie too then. The only people who make a bunch off these coins are people with too much money who only want to coin no matter the cost.

The CC Morgan 1878? I noticed has the same error as a S Morgan Dollar in this video : the recognizable error is the Arrow Bundle’s quivers. All but one of the arrow’s heads is on an angle pointing down while the matching quiver should not run parallel to thr othrr wuivers in the Arrow Bundle. In this worn looking Morgan reverse it is recognizable that all these Quivers run parallel to one another instead of one angled up? This is infact an error coin. I wonder, Does this error increase the value of this coin to the right collector? Plus being minted at the Carson City Mint which no longer exists? Actually the Dye used to form the error must be a defective dye? How else could an error such as this be found on this coin, but given the amount of error coins produced will this effect the value of the coin? I am seeing an increase in collector’s interested in aquiring error coins in this decade.

How are metals a good investment if you have to pay heavy commissions when you buy and sell? The coin would have to triple in value to be profitable.

Most dealers I have known either never handle a raw coin bare handed or if they do only by the rim. I was very surprised that you touched those mint state half dollars on the face bare handed.

A local Memphis TN coin shop owner, who shall remain nameless, known to local coin collectors as "the rat" had a man walk in with a coin he had found and ask it's value. The Rat said he didn't recognize the coin, a U S five dollar gold piece, He then said it " but it says five dollars , Ill give you five dollars for it".

If it's the coin dealer where I live and he told me my coin wasn't worth much ..... I would go to another town and get several other opinions or go on line and research the actual value!
Sorry CHu, just relating experiences I have had with SOME coin dealers!

In the last two decades radio has gone obsolete. The result is we rarely listen to radio. Likewise in the last decade cash, especially in coin form, has gone obsolete. While we barely use cash anymore, that may get people more interested in collecting vintage coins, like what is happening with LP records.

Dan as a kid I could not afford the semi keys and key dates as well as the DDO ddr RPM 3.5 legger buff.. I have been collecting that stuff now for 7 or so yrs. I have the Barber keys forward . So I have the good stuff that I dreamed about as a 8yro with Whitman folders. Most are slabbed by pcgs and ngc and a few are icg and anacs. I have a cool collection that is desirable but it will take well over 5figures to create it. I'm wondering what can I expect to see when I decide to sale.. like 70% of book 80 ? They are are the best dates so I'm not sure if I can make what I spent. I did my research and bought at fair prices.
