Thanks for the great feedback everybody! I mentioned in another comment that once the Amarok launches, we'll re-run these tests with the 70 Series (wasn't available for this test), the LDV T60 Max, Mahindra Pik-Up, Amarok, regular Navara and Ranger bi-turbo.
On the award places - the Jeep was outright winner for obvious reasons. Raptor got best value on the basis that it has all of the off-road equipment you need to go off-road without modifying the vehicle - to get anywhere near this level of equipment you'd need to buy the Jeep, which already took out the main prize, or modify one of the other utes, which would void warranty.
And in the four-cylinder category, it was a very close placement between Navara and Triton. Ultimately it went to the Navara because it comes out of the factory with the added off-road gear that won't void the warranty.
On tyres - as we said in the test, we wanted to test these straight out of the factory. By fitting all terrain tyres to each vehicle, we no longer have a vehicle that is as you can buy off the dealer floor. These are very light off-road tests that any dual-cab ute and any driver should be able to do without needing all-terrain tyres.

ОтветитьPoor testing as always put the same tyres on all them and then it's a fair test but youwon't do that because there loaners from
the manufactuers and you are not allowed to modify them even changing the tyres. An advertisement disguised as a “test”. Imagine if they put an old landcruiser against all these would smoke them easily but hey they'll come out shouting thats not a UTE and that I've missed the point when it's actually them that have missed my point entirely!!!!

What else would I like - to compare the old ones with the new ones, does modern electronics really significantly help to do the same thing as with the old ones without it... I think it would be interesting for everyone.

EDIT: its not based on mitsubishi but on mazda, which is even weirder as the mazda did well

how can you compare these cars with different tires, it is known that those cars with heavy-duty tires cope better, while others cope worse with normal tires. This whole test is not true

Ответитьmmm triton did well , I thought it did far much better than the Navara in the 4 cl category. of cause the Navara is custom off road built. I guess even with that the triton was better.

ОтветитьWell my new BT50 hasn't had any issues with the standard tyres getting up steep hills. Maybe a little more throttle would have helped.. There is too much crappy technology in cars these days.

ОтветитьThe front tires of the DMax are not working, only the rear so it naturally wont make it just like the raptor when climbing on 2-wheel drive. Isuzu are the best diesel engines and i have no doubt it can climb that test but obviously in the video the front tires during the climb were not even turning as if it was locked on a 2-wheel drive

ОтветитьAmerican trucks did better because of longer wheenbase. Shorter trucks leave diagonal tire spin marks, and other short trucks going after get cought in them. Longer wheelbase makes sure at least one axle stays on more or less even patch of the hill surface.

sufficient acceleration. Whenever they gain momentum, you just get your foot off the pedal.
