16 is the last year of the gen 1s. They fixed a lot of problems with the 17s and up.
ОтветитьHere come the 5.0 brigade with "I'm glad I went with the 5.0, I got over a 150k miles on it and only need to add 6 quarts of oil every 2 weeks"
ОтветитьJust overpriced junk. The only way it stops is if people quit buying this crap
ОтветитьManifold studs breaking off and windshields that leak, that's ridiculous! Serious engineering and quality control problems at Ford.
ОтветитьThat's why I stick to kia
ОтветитьI have an '18 F150 with the 5.0. It has high oil consumption. It burns a quart every 3000 miles. I only have about 55K on it. Ford said my VIN wasn't covered on the TSB. My warranty is out, but I reported it from the beginning. Do you think there is anything I can do about it? Thanks for any suggestions.
ОтветитьMy father has 200k+ on his 3.5 and he has had zero issues, his is a 2016. That thing is a towing machine as well, I understand the fear of turbos and the v8 has great reliability, but the v8 is on the endangered species list. probably won't see any v8's in 10 years.
ОтветитьGreat video I have a 2016 3.5 expedition xlt 2wd Changed my ABS out because back tires spin out all the time on wet pavement even when I’m barely on the gas. Thought it was ABS but it still does it. Tires look to be in good condition as well any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.
ОтветитьWow! Thank you for the video.
ОтветитьTake a shot every time he says "leak".
ОтветитьI wish my town had a mechanic like you!
ОтветитьEcoboost vs. Coyote...
"Here, let me show you the sunroof."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had a 1500 2014 5.3 Silverado that I often worked like a 2500 HD!!
Towing a lot, overloading the bed etc
149,000 TROUBLE FREE MILES!!!!
Not one leak!!
Not one issue!!!!!!
149,000 trouble Free miles!!!
Ford's are garbage!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
great video.i have seen all the same repairs for the eco- v6......starters...spark/coils plugs not lasting.....
ОтветитьFor me I chose the Coyote V8 over the EcoBoost V6 anyday.
ОтветитьCan't wait to see what kind of shenanigans Ford puts out for F1!
It will be comedy first class when the ** when Red Bull engines leak all kinds of crap
Just buy a restored 70’s truck for $20-30k. Problem solved
ОтветитьNot progress. Regress. The future is dumb and chincy.
ОтветитьProblems addressed on later models?
ОтветитьIn 2011 I had to decide weather it would be a 5.0 or an eco boost for the new truck. Being the conservative sort went with the 5.0 even though PR at the time was heavily weighted to the eco boost. Now have 135k on the 5.0 and have had zero problems. Just finished a 15,000 mile trip from the east coat to Alaska and back with the travel trailer. Ran perfectly.
ОтветитьLove my 1994 F150
Ответитьthe turbos nothing but problems
ОтветитьDo you recommend the trans dipstick from B&M for the 2017 F150 I change my own Trans fluid seems like a much easier way to fill it to the proper level while hot.
ОтветитьWhen I bought my 2017 F150 the one thing I would not budge on was I wanted the 5.0. They really tried to talk me into a ecoboost. I just said I don't want that shit I natural asperated motor . Dont need a sunroof in my truck.
ОтветитьNo turbos for me. Had 2 5.0 engines.....no issues
ОтветитьEven the head of Ford said they need to do better because warranty costs are too high. He said that years ago but no progress has been made yet
ОтветитьYou just confirmed for me that choosing a 5.0 over the twin turbo v6 was worth effort. I recently got a 2013 with the 5.0. They are a lot harder to find than the v6s. But I wanted less maintenance and I enjoy my v8s.
ОтветитьThey did its called Toyota Tundra
ОтветитьI have a 2015 5.0 gen 2 coyote.
No complaints about the engine, mostly just accessories.
Both accessory belt tensioners had to be replaced early on, then next to no issues other than maintenance.
My scariest issue was the transmission cooler lines rotting through, you don't catch that early it can destroy the transmission.
The rest of the work on the truck has been me being way over protective.
I've replaced the entire suspension all around due to wanting an upgrade, added swaybar at the back and upgraded the front,.
Replaced all wheel bearing at 75000 Km, U-joints and all drive train fluids/filters.
Replaced spark plugs at about 50000km.
did new rims and tires all around about 5 years into owning it.
I foresee this vehicle lasting at least 25 years.
How do you know if it's a steel body or aluminum body? I thought they were all aluminum after 2004.
ОтветитьA friend bought a new Ford f150 about a year ago with the 3.5l.i told him I would have bought a 5 liter with 3.73 axles. He replied he didn't want a race car engine in a truck. I said what do you think a 3.5l twin turbo engine is? Oh well.
ОтветитьHave a 2014 with the 3.5 TT and have 136,000 miles, never has leaked anything. I’ve only replaced the throttle body at 80k. It runs like new.
ОтветитьHad to replace the steering unit for $3000 at 135k on 2014 ecoboost. And it runs hot when towing even with new rad and thermostat, $1500. Will stick with non turbos from here.
ОтветитьThank you for showing me all this!
ОтветитьIt looks like Ford built the truck around those manifold bolts. I bet that is a pain to repair.
ОтветитьI HAD a 2014 SuperCrew3.5L Eco POOP and at 52,000 mi and went through a leaky rear main seal. transmission front pump seal leak replacement drivers side turbo coolant leak. At 30,000mi on the new rear main seal it started leaking again. Then the front cover/timing chain cover started leaking in addition the passenger side turbo had to be replaced. I asked the service manager if they would replace the second rear main seal since it only had 30,000mi on it he said it’s out of warranty and I had to pay for it. I said ok had it fixed called carvana and bought a 2021 Tundra Crewmax 4x4, which i should’ve done day one. I learned that if you buy American cars buy an extended Warranty which I had and quality is not job 1 at Ford. Never again.
ОтветитьMy service truck has the Coyote. 337k miles and the only work that has been done was an alternator at 320k miles and coilpack replacement at 334k miles. Still run better than the Triton they had me in when i firat started with the company. That truck had way less mileage and it was much worse.
ОтветитьThis is such a good video! I am curious to see how the new ones do over time and mileage
ОтветитьMy 2018 3.5 on my F150 has been flawless.
No issues whatsoever
i wish you would have talked about the cam phasers and guides issues a little bit. the tik tik tik. I had a 13 f150 with the 5.0 and now a 21 with the 5.0 the 13 had the tick at 35k. i have yet to hear a tik on the 21 but i only have 16k on it
Ответить173k on my 3.5....regular maintenance...now the turbos seals leaking, oil, coolant, water pump leaking, and acouple of sheared bolts, around 4k to fix, then there is timong chain that is now rattling.... another 4k. ....wont buy an Ecoboost ever again
ОтветитьGreat video, very educational. Thank you
ОтветитьI would not buy anything with the eco boost engine. Way too many problems that the factory doesn't even have the repair procedure to correct. Why would you buy a V-6 and turbo it to get the power of a V-8 when you can just get the V-8 with far fewer problems?
ОтветитьThanks for this instructive video. I know what to avoid!
ОтветитьFords are the biggest pieces of garbage on the road.
ОтветитьIt mostly comes down to engine maintenance and how you drive the truck. If you don’t change the oil in ecoboost engines at least every 5k you’re going to have issues over time. I guarantee most of the failures with turbos and the timing chain issues are caused by lack of maintenance.
ОтветитьObviously as good as the turbski might be, buy the Coyote (?)🤔
ОтветитьGot a 2011 6.2 lariat with 270,000 miles. No major repairs. Truck has power and torque for days
ОтветитьMy buddy and I both have 1018 F150’s. He has the V8 and I have the Ecoboost. He gets 10mpg towing a 23’ travel trailer and I get 12.5mpg towing a 19’ travel trailer. My cam phasers had to be replaced at 50k and he has electrical issues at 25k (he doesn’t drive it much!) The Ecoboost has a lot more torque and horsepower but the V8 gets the job done. Take your pick!
ОтветитьNice work. My kind of video!
