In a tropical country like India where there is a lot of pollution, we know that great hair comes with a good scalp. So it is very important to maintain scalp health. A lot of us think that we should use harsh shampoos or shampoos that gives a lot of lather in order to clean your scalp. My suggestion is that scalp has to be washed every alternate day if you have a job that takes you outside the longer the hair the more frequently the scalp needs to be cleaned. the scalp contains a lot of hair follicles and lot of oil glands which naturally secrete a lot of sebum. This is going to cause a buildup of sebum and a overgrowth of fungus that is going to cause dandruff. So keep the scalp clean. Make sure you use a pH balance shampoo. You can also use a keotconazole or a zinc pyrithine containing shampoo, maybe once a week or clean the scalp if you have vey oily scalp. Otherwise a sulphate free shampoo should do. Oiling the hair is ok, but oiling the scalp is a strict no no . oiling the scalp will increase the amount of bacteria.
