ОтветитьMr Salles, I've just had the exam and I want to thank you so much, I have always struggled on this paper, but I really feel like I've done well and it is all thanks to you, I will always keep subscribed even though I'm not carrying on English for a level
ОтветитьThis video is the reason I actually was able to do well on my paper 2 when I screwed up completely on paper 1
ОтветитьThis was the last video I watched right before the paper 2 exam yesterday. It honestly was a massive help, as have all your videos been! I can’t thank you enough Mr Salles and I’ll be sure to encourage my little brother to use your videos to help him when he does his GCSEs!
ОтветитьAre these sources provided with exam?
ОтветитьHi, I got my mock tomorrow and I was wondering for question 4 when it asks for methods, am I supposed to use just language, just structure or both? It’s been confusing me haha
ОтветитьThank you so much sir. Got Double 9s in English, owe it all to you. 🤙
ОтветитьGot my English language paper 2 tomorrow and I know where I’m going now 😊
Ответитьthis man cracks me up
ОтветитьCould the sibilance of 's' also refer to it being windy?
Ответитьthe fact that i sat the exact same paper last week
ОтветитьMr salles i used all your videos on my mock and i dont know how but i got a 3 ;( i havent got my paper back but i used all you ideas on jekyll and hyde and macbeth but i think i may have used some points and anlaysis they wernt relevant to the question just wondering how important it is to stick to the question. Also im literally learning from home the past 6 months so i dont know if ur teaching is strictly teaching but actually a revision tool. Anyway thank you for the content its very helpful
ОтветитьWhich program do you use to record your essay responses?
ОтветитьIn terms of the SPaG that we need, would it be sufficient to use commas, colons, semicolons and vary sentence length? Is it essential to also use brackets and hyphens as well as perfect spelling to get the full 16 marks?
ОтветитьSickening gristle crunch is also onomatopoeia showing that he could feel his bones cracking by thee sheer pressure of what he was experiencing
Ответитьmr salles > mr everything english
ОтветитьThis is so helpful, straight to the point. 2023 GSCE gang, we got this!
ОтветитьI watched this a day before my exam and got 71/80!!! I got a high grade 9!!! I also watched a video all about Question 5 and got 36/40!!! I cannot thank you enough!
ОтветитьThe only problem I think i can't think of ideas about what to write about techniques eg i cant spot them so easily. But I think from Q3 youre just summarising the text from the lines
ОтветитьAnother underrated video
ОтветитьIm going into my first mocks next week and im suprised there arent more people using this as revision. Great help, thank you!
ОтветитьJ

TOPIC : Can Virtual Reality replace Mountain Exploration?
With the rise of emerging technology such as Virtual Reality, there is one question in every person’s mind: ‘Will Virtual Reality really let us do anything and everything from the comfort of our homes?’.
The simple answer is no, for now. Virtual Reality is truly limitless and if I had to roll the dice I would say that all we need is fifty or so years to make it almost impossible to tell the difference between a virtual world and the real world. As limitless as Virtual Reality is, today, I would like to focus on the idea of mountain exploration. Now we’ve all seen amazing news stories of those courageous people scaling Everest or K2 but what if we skip the ‘hard part’?
Well, I believe that this is an absolute terrible idea and I'm going to explain exactly why.
Let's begin with the first and most Impactful reason why Virtual Reality could but should never replace live mountain exploration. People. The social and cultural impact that this would have on so many mountainous countries is shocking. Let's take Nepal for example: Thirty percent of Nepal's industry relies on tourism due to the would famous Mount Everest. And Everest is not just known for its tourism. Thousands of people have climbed this mountain, raising millions, if not billions, of dollars for charity. And the reason that people donate is because the act of climbing a mountain is not just about personal achievement or gain; it is symbolic of all the different struggles and challenges we as humans face and have to overcome. Without the risk and struggle, what do we have left? To end with, I would like to talk about an issue that is perhaps the most important. Jobs. Around Ninety percent of the mountain exploration guides for Everest are locals who are trying to make a living and feed their family. Take away mountain exploration and countless people are Left jobless in a poverty-stricken country.
For some, this next reason will seem extremely obvious but it truly is surprising how many people do not even consider the health benefits of being in the outdoors. Most families are often glued to their screens either for work or leisure and the yearly trip to Scotland or Wales is the perfect chance for them to recharge in the most natural environment possible. Snatching this away from them means that screens take over every part of our lives and one can only imagine the effects of that. It certainly won’t get rid of your headache! Studies show that people who take the time to regularly visit the outdoors are likely to live 10-15 years longer.
Is it not amazing to see just how much your life can change from something as simple as going outside?
So why get rid of that amazing and
irreplaceable feeling of being in the outdoors? Well, the most common arguments for why Virtual Reality is a better altemative are that it is risky and damages the environment. There's no doubt that doing something like scaling a mountain is risky but so is waking up every morning choosing to do things that you don't want to do even though you know tomorrow may not come! Life itself is a risk so why shy away from a bit of danger? As for the notion that mountain exploration is damaging the natural world; I would argue that it does exactly the opposite. Of course, to some extent, it does have a slight effect on the landscape of mountains which often leads to landslides but I think it has one benefit which outweighs everything else.
It opens up peoples eyes.
Looking at images of these beautiful behemoths on Instagram is useful but actually experiencing the breathtaking sense of tranquility at the peak of a mountain will make you value nature like never before.
Nature is something that us humans will never be able to replicate fully. Sure we can somewhat replicate the feeling that we get but our connection with Mother Nature runs so much deeper than that. So let's expand the bounds of human advancement and technology but let us not also forget where we came from.
