“New” Harleys almost always include “new” paint, “new” chrome, and new “farkles.” But they don’t include new tech or new ride improvements. The PanAmerican and Sportster S are exciting new bikes from a rider’s perspective. But a new paint job on a “same old Harley” is not new.

I love Harley. When people complain about Harley’s, they sow ignorance. A Harley will not perform like a liter bike or a European bike but those bikes won’t perform like a Harley. They are designed to do different things and they do what they do. Day in, day out my Harleys have never just died. Still, I have a 2008 Fat Bob. The 2023 Fat bob has more power, ABS and many other things, but they still don’t have the Buell design features from back in the day that I added to my bike in order that my bike can do things the new bikes still cannot do.

I wish Harley would say “for 2025 we are not going to focus on more power, new gizmos or new color schemes. We aren’t going to enter a new market like we did when we entered the adventure market or try to build for twisties. We are going to focus on improving the ride for those people who want a Harley ride. A Harley is a “two-wheel Muscle Car.” Hot hatches have their place. Sports cars have their place. But Muscle cars have a place too. We are offering the best stock “American muscle bike” that has ever been offered. I would buy that bike if it was spray painted Matt black with the words “oh yeah!” spray painted on the side.
