Well done. Just small adjustments can make such a difference.

Hi Adam and Alister, I have also clicked the same spot with a different angle and editing work though. Is it possible to send you the image, so I can get an update on my faults?

I think that if you have to tightly crop the top, then you best also tightly crop the bottom so that what remains is in balance.

If you could just lower your face light and maybe ditch the hat we could see your eyes when you are chatting to us.

From top to bottom the water is blurred, relatively sharp, then blurred again. 1/4 second was probably a bit too quick to deal with the center section.

Thank you Adam and Alister for these critique sessions. I have found them to be thought provoking and has helped me improve the editing/processing of my images. I hope the two of you will consider continuing these critiques in 2023.

I for one have never been a fan of the look of over saturated HDR photography, that's just me as I'm not really comfortable critiquing Mr. Noakes image, I too would be curious to see this image done from scratch through the normal post processing methods as well as the composition itself with respect to camera position & cropping in post...Overall, I think the image may have more possibilities working with the RAW file...
Merry Christmas everyone,
Bill... :~) 👣

I was immediately struck by how different the same image looked on your respective monitors. I don't know if it's how each of you calibrated your monitors, or how your respective screen capture apps recorded your screens. But Alister's screen looks almost flat compared to Adam's.

On Adam's screen, the photo looked almost sickeningly oversaturated and contrasty. It wasn't nearly as bad on Alister's screen. I thought I detected a difference in other videos, but it is really stark here.

All that said, I think that the composition is too tight at the top and a bit too saturated, even on Alister's screen. Maybe a higher angle would have helped the composition. There's a lot of potential there and I hope the photographer is able to go back and take another stab at it.

It was a nice image but a little too busy and over processed for me. I agree that the waterfall needed a bit of space above it.

Great series. The interesting thing about it. One image, two critiques, four different opinions.

Hi Adam, thank you and Alister for taking the time to review my image! I'm just starting out with photography so all of the feedback both of you were able to provide is extremely helpful. I've been trying to consume as many of your post processing tutorials as I can, to try and improve. But nothing beats direct feedback!

Additionally, I'd be more than happy to send you the raw file if you're interested!

Hi Mr. Gibbs, I have notice several times that between your monitor and Mr . Benn monitor there is a big difference in color and contrast. On this photo critique it is quite obvious. On your screen this photo looks much more saturated and « hdr looking » than on Mr. Benn monitor. Never the less , both of you have very constructive critique . thanks

My feeling is that the composition is too busy. There's too much going on and a simpler and perhaps calmer composition could be better.

Interesting how the image looked so different between your screen capture and Alister's! Very curious 🙂
